Follow a map carefully, we parked by the cafe and walked down and then turned downriver instead of up to the main falls. A short hike became much longer with some significant rock clambering and the odd heart stopping moment … beautiful nonetheless but not for the faint hearted. We did make our way to the main falls in the end, all in all spectacular but do plan your route!

Amazing that there was no charge to visit these waterfalls, not for entry parking or anything.
Definitely wear trainers or shoes with nonslip soles. A parking attendant was trying to dissuade people wearing inappropriate footwear. Once you’re climbing across rocks both wet and dry it’s too treacherous to wear flip flops.
The water is crystal clear, lots of small fish but FREEZING cold, worth a dip but it totally took my breathe away.
At the furthest waterfall there’s a rope ladder to help the intrepid and fearless get high enough for a big jump into the water. Not for me but a lot doing it despite the freezing water!

This was our second visit to these wonderful waterfalls. A dry summer meant less dramatic falls than in May. But they are still a wonderful sight. Interestingly, swimming in the many pools was a little easier! A trip not to be missed.

We came here without looking into it too much and let the trails carry us wherever they led. Apparently, I have now seen on Instagram we missed the big attraction-the big waterfalls. As I can see from the other reviews the path is hidden and this is for the best, as it quite dangerous and several people have died here. We did travel quite a way up the cliffs in the opposite direction and indeed my instinct was to stop as i could see parts of the trail had fallen and it was not clearly marked.

As for the water- I was hoping to swim in the smaller pools but they were smelly, freezing and full of insects. I also encountered a snake at one point which caused me to slip from my fright as it slithered past me.

Another huge negative is that even in May and right after the corona lockdown, this place was quite popular. What would have been a relaxing time by Panagos' Lake was destroyed by this moronic couple trying to take sexy photos for about an hour, while the girl did acrobatics on the edge of the rocks in a string bikini. At some points we got a full view of her crotch. Hardly my idea of serenity.

In short, if you are a thrill seeker who like freezing water and risky trails this place is for you. If you are like me and prefer quiet, peaceful places which have not become popular via Instagram there are much more tranquil and safe waterfall trails in the area ;)

We thought after the rainy day it would be great to go, cause the waterfall would be filled with lots of water and be more impressive...
The part about more water was accurate, BUT the water was murky and part of the path was flooded.
So we were not able to appreciate the scenery to much...

The site is very pretty but avoid it in August. It's way too busy, it feels like a municipal swimming pool. It's almost heartbreaking to let so many people access a natural site like this which therefore inevitably finds itself polluted. They should limit the number of visitors per hour.

Almost a side comment in my travel guide, I could easily have missed it, but this was a diversion I was so pleased I took while travelling between Kalamata and Pylos. It was a local secret but the secret is out, yet it's not crowded as the tour coaches won't go down the un-made road. If you're brave you can take a dip in the main pond. A moderately difficult hill back up to the car parking area.

The falls are definitely worth a trip, but I would imagine are very busy during the day.

A reasonably challenging rock scramble to get all the way to the main falls - definitely not a sandals or flip flop trip, and be prepared to get wet shoes.

We arrived at the car park at 5pm and it was still busy at the waterfalls at 6pm.

It is worth visiting Polymnio at least once in your life! From my personal experience required sports shoes, comfortable clothes and water together! Bathing in the lake is also worth it. However, caution is needed during the journey to avoid injuries (e.g. at some points slippery stones).

It was difficult to go there! The road is not good.rough and tiny and dusty! Some has damage in their car due to too much car no where to park and nowhere to turn. After you park your car in a dusty side road or parking lot you still need to walk alot in a steep and wild rocks till you get there just to see a small falls, too much effort for that.but no thanks.
