Hello my name is Carl Mesilio I am a 49 year old Gibraltarian who has been born and raised in Gibraltar. I am bilingual in English and Spanish. I have been a private tour guide ever since I was trained and certified by the Gibraltar Tourist Board in 2004, providing my clients with a professional and experienced excursion around Gibraltar. Clear Knowledgeable Tour with Great Service and Professionalism

Our friend booked this tour during our day in Gibraltar while docking on our cruise. Chris our tour guide was one of the best tour guides I have ever met in Europe. His family has lived in Gibraltar for almost 300 years and his depth of knowledge showed. He answers everyone one of my questions clearly and knowledgeable.

My parents were quite impressed as English is not there first language but even they were able to leave the tour with a wealth of knowledge.

I could not recommend this tour enough. Ask for Chris and you will have a wonderful day and experience.

A Wonderful Day!

Fabulous from start to finish! Customised tour for a family group aged from 13 to 82 who were visiting on a cruise. Our wonderful driver/guide Dale was so friendly from the moment he picked us up at the port and he looked after us so well. His knowledge and enthusiasm made this the best day out and we didn't want the tour to end. We have so many happy memories of a great day-particularly the monkeys :-)
100% highly recommend.

This tour was a highlight of our cruise.
Our guide, Carl Mesilio is experienced and so knowledgeable of the Rock having been born and raised on it. This is not a tour with someone who just read Wikipedia history of the Rock! The guide was waiting for us at the cruise terminal as promised and very understanding of our ship being late, still giving us all the time needed for our tour.
There were so many interesting things on this tour. We could not ask for anything better. It is probably the best tour we have ever taken. We took the 3 1/2 hour intermediate tour enjoying every moment. It would be awesome if every tour company could be this good!
Our guide also recommended Roy’s Fish and Chips. It was delicious!

Private tour of rock

We had a private tour with six of us. Carl was great! Car was clean and he was easy to understand and patient. He was very polite and gave us plenty of time at each stop. He also warned of us potential mobility challenges for one of our party in a very polite and understanding way. We had a great time! Tour was as described. He picked us up at border and dropped us at main square per our request.

The Best Way to See Gibraltar

Prior to doing any type of traveling, I read, study, seek out fellow travelers for advice and try to have a real good idea about how i am going to take my family through our next adventure. Prior to planning our trip to Gibraltar, I was very conflicted concerning whether we should "wing it" by parking in Linea, walking across, and using our Rick Steves book to conduct our own walking tour. I AM SO HAPPY that Carl (the owner of Inside Out Rock Tours) approached us on the street. The information he provided, the numerous fun surprises he had for us on the trip (photos with the apes, an on bus movie clip that added to the fun, and even a glimpse at his own residence!) were invaluable. I always want to walk away from tours feeling like I learned but was not schooled.....in other words, i want the learning experience to be fun. Carl made the entire tour fun, educational, and beyond. he answered all of our questions, filled our heads with all kinds of fun facts, and even gave us great information on beating the rush hour traffic out of Gibraltar and back to Spain. My advice to anyone planning a trip to Gibraltar is to call and book him ahead of time. It would be a shame to go all that way and see him ride off with another family! Thanks Carl!

I am glad that you enjoyed your excursion with us and that it was far more interesting, educational and most importantly more fun than Mr. Steve’s book “conducting your own walking tour”. Understandably, many people are as you say “put off” from the idea of taking tours as many are schooled down basic historical facts which makes it a rather boring experience especially when there are kids involved, which is why at “Gibraltar Inside Out Rock Tours” we take pride in what we do and ensure that your trip around Gibraltar with us is an overwhelming experience!! Thanks Carl for a Wonderful Tour Experience

As others have said we debated driving in to Gibraltar and doing a self tour or parking in La Linea, walking across and grabbing a taxi tour. Well then on Tripadvisor I saw Carl's email address from Gibraltar Inside Out Rock Tours and we started a conversation to weigh the options.

We (four of us) made the right decision, Carl met us inside the border and took us away on an extended tour that included all the sights of the rock and many of Gibraltar that we would not have been able to enjoy by ourselves.

This was a complete no hassle experience for us Canadians who have been enjoying Spain and now Gibraltar for the last 6 weeks. Carl was informative, humourous and helpful throughout the tour. Don't ever hesitate if you are planning on visiting Gibraltar, book with Carl.

A spectacular way to propose to my girlfriend

I had the idea to ask my girlfriend to marry me at the top of the Rock of Gibraltar, where the cable car drops you off. I called a couple tour guides from here, including Carl. Carl was the only one who knew to tell me that the cable car was closed for renovations for a month.

I was very disappointed, until he told me there was an even higher point at the very top of the rock called Ohara's Battery, and that he could get the key to unlock the gate (closed on the weekends to the public!) to let me propose to my fiancee there in complete privacy. Wow, even better! We agreed on a fair price for a few hours of private tour of several famous stops, including of course the surprise proposal, many beautiful photos, etc.

The whole thing went perfectly. I am so happy that I found him on here. Awesome guy, very patient, friendly, flexible, knowledgeable, and well connected in Gibraltar. He was absolutely fantastic and really helped make my proposal plans go great. It was a very special and romantic day, and Carl helped make that happen. Thanks a million buddy!

I give Carl my highest recommendation. DON'T EVEN BOTHER LOOKING ANY FURTHER!!! :)

One of the best tours we have had!

Having limited time in port on a cruise, we felt our cruise line's excursions were too limited and over-priced. Thank goodness we did our research, as there is no way any other tour of Gibraltar could have been as thorough, fun, or educational! Carl Mesilio was punctual in our replies and flexible in changing his itinerary to accommodate our desire to go the World War II tunnels. He knew how to navigate around the crowded areas and hairpin turns like a pro! He was very informative on the history and current events of Gibraltar and we got a sense of the pride and culture of this small piece of land. If you really want to maximize your time in Gibraltar, we would highly recommend hiring Carl!

There's no other thing to write other than that if You wish to know The Rock from inside-out, take a tour with Carl! Thoughts about our decision to take a tour with him have immediately from the start turned into purest satisfaction and amazement from variety of all the incredible bits and pieces you'll hear from this friendly and kind gibraltarian! He indeed knows The Rock inside-out and as with us, he surely will make sure that you see everything interesting and enjoy your tour ( cheeky apes for example :) ).
