A but of a let down
If you've got the Gibraltar Nature Reserve and you are nearby, then the Skywalk offers an alternative view from the top of the rock but otherwise its not worth the effort of a special visit or the £5 entry fee. There are a few apes around and nice views but there is nothing scary about the view through the floor as you aren't actually hanging over the edge, instead you are just a little bit above some rock. Disappointing as it looked quite cool from our hotel room in Catalan Bay.

    Use the force
after visiting Gibraltar many times over the years, I’ve never really done the touristy thing, we are usually there for National day celebrations parties/birthdays or Christmas. So this time we decided to fully explore the Rock(done the cable car to the top before) we walked up the rock from the Moorish Castle in to the nature reserve did the WW2 tunnels and the great siege tunnels along with walking up to the top via Inglis Way then skywalk then on to st Michael’s cave before starting down via the Windsor bridge. Amazing views and definitely an experience, if you have a fear of heights it’s is definitely not for you.

    Great views and interesting features
Tuesday 17th May and we took the cable car up to the Top of the Rock. This viewpoint is just a short walk from the cable car station. It is not inside the Nature Reserve so no additional charge to visit here. This glass platform was previously a military lookout that was transformed into a modern viewing platform with a 360 degree panoramic view across Gibraltar and the Mediterranean. It is a bit strange at first when stepping on to the glass floor and looking downwards and seeing Sandy Bay below. Part of glass floor platform has spots dotted about which does hinder the view downwards. There is a circular piece of concrete at the platform, at it's centre there is a metal plaque. Etched on the plaque is the image of a gun that would have in the original gun emplacement. It also has the words " This is a faithful reproduction of the original concrete base used for an anti-aircraft Bofors gun during World War II". There is also a small octagonal shaped concrete pillar it has a metal disc on top. The disc has an etched map on it and distance from there, like Marrakesh 556 kilometers, Rio de Janeiro 7,674 kilometers, Lisbon 444 kilometres. It makes for interesting reading and educational. Found it interesting and a bit amusing to learn that the Skywalkway was opened on the 21st March 2018 by Starwars actor Mark Hamill, who played Luke Skywalker.

The Skywalk has one of the best view for the rock (not the city side). I don't enjoy heights, so I have tried the upper floor which was made from concreate.
The park entrance ticket of GBP 13 included the entrance to the walk, so you didn't have to pay extra though with the walking ticket of GPB 5, you would need to buy the GBP 13 ticket.
If you are walked around the park, you shouldn't miss this spot.

far too expensive . paid £18 per person to go to the top of the Rock by cable car stunning views from the view point and cafe . So far so good . Then we approached the Skywalk only to be told it was a further £16 per person . The Skywalk is just another view point with a transparent floor . There were no price lists at the ground station for the cable car. I have family connections in Gibraltar , I have been going for many years and normally I love all things Gib . This however is a total rip off . £34 per person for a view ? It catches tourists unawares and they pay out of embarassment as they dont want to turn back so quickly . A license to print money .

I’m glad that this was in with the cable car and nature reserve ticket as I would have been sorely disappointed if I would have paid the £5 fee just to do it. The glass walkway is very short and the glass floor was dirty and opaque the best thing about the skywalk is the views. Do it if you have the nature reserve ticket but don’t waste your money doing it otherwise.

So, Luke Skywalker aka Mark Hamill innaugrated Skywalk. The Star Wars inspiration.

One is at 400 m height with nothing below, except the glass bottom and glass bulkwark for safety barrier.

A great feeling to be on skywalk but hey, where is the light saber.

We went with a guide who took us there on a trip to see this, St Michaels Caves, Cable Car, Airport (from high!) Monkeys as well as some view points along the way. They charge about £30 each and its for just under 2 hours. well worth getting a guide. Easily found mine by walking along Main Street. The monkeys are fun to watch, but a guide will ensure you don't get into trouble! Roads are extremely narrow with a number of walkers. The views are something else, but great to have it explained by a local.

Thrilling walk so high up and seeing the ground below. Awesome views across the sea and of the rock. Quite a few monkeys hanging around and playing. One of them interested in me filming him, holding onto my jacket and watching me watching him. Baby macaques huddling with their families and playing with each other.

Wow factor indeed. Only been open a couple of years. Huge Investment and it is FAB ! Olend my Mark Hamil- Mr Skywalker himself ! Amazing views. The apes are happy with this new technology too ! Great to see the government provides daily fresh water and food for the apes. This place definitely has the wow factor.

This was a little scry for me. To be on this walk and look below and realize how truly high up you are was a bit much. That being said so glad we did this. The views from this area are not to be missed. Truly a not to be missed time on your trip to Gibralter

I had no idea this was actually based on Star Wars. It’s such a cool place with spectacular views over the sea. Go early morning after they open for the best light.

We got a ticket for the cable car, one way, intending walking back down. The skywalk is included in the price so we took a look. I'm scared of heights so stood back, but a very helpful English chap from Manchester who works there kindly took a phot of my Son which shows a place called 'Both Worlds' holiday homes and a small sandy beach below. The glass is still cracked and sealed off so no idea when that will be fixed? Go after lunchtime when the low clouds of levante have cleared giving great views.
