About
The Lovespoon Workshop is a free visitor attraction based around the 17th century Welsh lovespoon tradition. Started by Kerry and Jill Thomas in 1975, the Thomas family continue handcarving Welsh lovespoons within Wales today. Everyone is welcome to come and see our unique collection of yearly lovespoons, one for every year since 1969 and all with a story to tell. Our lovespoons record events over the past fifty years, both within our own family and the wider world. We hand make all of our lovespoons onsite from a wide variety of woods and for all occasions including weddings, anniversaries, births, engagements and christenings. Over the years we have developed a range of over one hundred designs to suitable for a wide range of tastes, from traditional to contemporary. Each lovespoon includes two initials, with addition carving being available on request. We hope you will pop in to visit if you are in west Wales and we can share our work and this wonderful Welsh tradition with you.

A hidden gem - well worth a visit

An absolute must see experience if you have a love of craftsmanship, natural wood or an ounce of romance in your soul. Dai 'Lovespoons' Thomas and his father are informative, talented and passionate about their craft and keeping the traditional skills and traditions alive. Dai was happy to find a lovespoon to suit my wife and I and personalised it there and then with our names and the year we married which he hand engraved. The workshop is spacious, light and welcoming, whether you're there to browse, to buy or to watch the craftsmen at work.

Worth a visit.

Lovely workshop, beautifully crafted Lovespoons & very friendly. There are some expensive & elaborate spoons but many smaller, simple ones for under £10

You can watch the owner working & he will explain how things are made, the wood....history etc.

The workmanship was a joy to see and after a long look and eventually finding the right one to buy, he added our initials. What a souvenir! It was so lovely! You can park outeide, it's free and he's full of fun and local knowledge too! Definatly go there and keep this tradition alive!

Captivating

We had visited the area last summer and failed to visit this attraction and so glad to have found it. It captivated my two grandchildren for an age, watching and listening to the stories of the spoons. We just watched in awe an absolute must of an experience if you are visiting and yes we bought a spoon which is now proudly hanging and will be a memory of the workshop for years to come.

A hidden gem!
Aug 2019 • Family
Visited here with my husband and 13 yr old daughter. The craftsmanship on show here is truly outstanding! It was great to hear about the history of Lovespoons and see a spoon being crafted. The family who own this business truly are dedicated and this is shown through their amazing work. They were so friendly and welcoming and even gave us tips of places to visit. Thank you so much for such an informative chat. If you have 30 mins or so to spare then it is definitely worth a visit. Also they have a website and do online orders. Thanks again 👍

Lovespoon Workshop Near Tenby
Jul 2019 • Family
We visited the workshop whilst staying in the lovely Lovespoon House next door.
No booking required to visit the workshop. Just turn up during the opening hours. It is a great option for something to do near Tenby that's a little different!
The guys are very informative and they provide interesting explanations and stories.
It's extra special that the workshop is run by a lovely friendly family, who have grown up with the wood carving tradition and are clearly passionate about their craft and the quality shines through in each individual piece.
They also gave us lots of useful tips for other places to visit in the area.
There are some amazing examples of their personal and bespoke work on display, as well as many individually carved Lovespoons available to take away - they'd make unusual wedding, birth and anniversary gifts.
On our visit, they hand carved our personalisation on to the Anniversary Lovespoon we purchased. Thank you - it looks great on display in our home.

An excellent family run workshop where everyone is so helpful. A wonderful selection of incredible carvings and a chance to buy a huge variety of spoons all hand carved. As a novice carver myself thank you for taking time to give me so much good advice .. I have a very long way to go. We visit every time we are in Pembrokeshire and have never grown tired of your skills and knowledge.
