Interesting place, an old sugarcane plantatiuon long since fallen into disrepair, but reinvented as a museum and well worth a look.

Consisting of several buildings (most in ruins — mill, factory) the main event is the manor house which contains the museum, which does a good job of presenting the sugar business over the centuries. Lots is in English. There’s also a muddy medicinal herb garden that’s not too much to look at, and the former kitchen is a separate building that now houses offices and you cannot enter. Good toilet. In all, pretty good but more could be done with the site. Lovely views of the surrounding area. If you’re doing a tour of Marie-Galante, this will be a key stop.

We had our picnics here on 3 occasions and watched 2 Birds of Prey (Merlins!) hunting. The grounds are beautiful and the house was interesting

Plan on staying a couple of hours seeing the well maintained grounds and the small museum. My dictionary came in handy because we don't speak much French. Well worth a visit.

First of all, it's free. Second of all, the grounds and main building are beautiful and the view of the ocean from the main building is spectacular. It's definitely worth an hour or so to walk around and see the displays in the museum. There are two signs on the grounds that give some of the history of the old plantation in English. All the signs inside the main house are in French but there are a lot of photos so it's easy to figure out what things are. Highly recommended!

The main house from this former sugar/rum plantation along some of the outbuildings and well-maintained gardens is a nice stop; and there are several kiosks in both French and English which provide information about the site. But, overall there isn't much here and this was a far cry from the level of information that we received in a similar plantation site in La Moule (the Zevallos House)

Impressive ruins of a former slave plantation. largest on the island with 300 slaves. made rum out of sugar cane. Part of a UNESCO heritage site to document the history of slavery. Small museum inside the mansion about the history of Guadeloupe. It was interesting to read some of the information about the transition to freedoom from slavery in 1848. Very small exhibit.
