We spent two nights back in March 2018 at Renato's and it was awsome! Renato, Tutu, Thep and Yolanda are the best hosts that you can have. They are a beautiful family and offered an experience that was one of the highlights of our trip. If you are looking to do something diferent and local we definetly recommend staying with Renato and his beatiful family.

Absolutely brilliant. Tool is on a trek. Not too challenging. Just spectacular views. Met lots of the tribes people. They were all very welcoming and it was not set up. Renato was very informative and we had great chats about everything. We found lots of insects. Enjoyed joining in with everyday life. Just brilliant. Go if you are interested in people. Animals and learning about a different way of life. One of the best trips we have ever done and we have done thousands.

We came to this lovely homestay by chance - we booked a 2 day 1 night trek in Thaton with Mr Puk. On the first day when we met our female guide of Karen heritage she told us we were going to trek through the fields and bamboo forests to her home - means this homestay in her village. The trek is easy and pleasant although right after the raining season would be greener than in January. Our guide (couldn't remember how to pronounce her name) is a university graduate who speaks good English and is a funny young lady. We trek with her cousin who is a nice young man speaks little English but possesses amazing skills in making all sorts of bamboo utensils (bowls, cups, spoons, chopsticks) for our BBQ lunch in the jungle. The homestay is located at quite a large village only about 20km from Thaton. It's not remote and has roads and car access but nonetheless has a rural country backdrop. There are 2 bamboo huts at the moment. It's very basic (amazingly wifi is still available) and clean and has some rustic characters. The family is extremely friendly, the father is also an experienced guide who speaks good English, the mother cooks simple yet yummy home meals. As a wedding will take place in the village on the next day so there is a party in the groom's house on the night we stay. We are taken to there to participate which is interesting. Although the villagers are Karen, they are modern day people who mostly are Christians / Catholics so what we see is a bunch of well behaved young people get together to sing lots of church songs. No smoking, little alcohol and definitely no drugs. We are told the bride and groom will wear traditional customs at the wedding but unfortunately we don't have time to stay to see. Overall, we have a pleasant stay and it's interesting to spend a night with a Thai family in the countryside and get to know them. On the last note, Mr Puk came to pick us up for our 2nd day trek. He is a nice guy, speaks good English, is knowledge about the area and also has good general knowledge. We will recommend him (089 9527456, or the owner of Thaton Inter View guesthouse knows how to contact him).
