Grottoes in this hillside yielded some of the most beautiful pre-Angkorian statuary ever found. Some is at the National Museum in Phnom Penh. Well worth a visit!

off the beaten track and very charming. if you are in the area, do not miss out on it. while it might not seem much as compared to angkor wat, it is a hidden gem, with a beautiful view. there are two stair cases leading up to temple, do make sure to use one for going up and the other for going down. also look for the small temple at the foot of the hill, it is also very charming.

If you want to go where very few others venture, then try here and you won't be disappointed. Apparently most tourists stop at the ruins of Angkor Borei and don't bother making the extra 20km to Phnom Da, that's their mistake! For starters, the extra 20km will provide additional views of the rural areas, some reasonably clean little villages, and then there is the awesome steep climb up old steps to the monument at the top. Views are awesome (check side trails at top for better views) and then ensure you descend via the alternate steps, which are just as steep but they will provide more hidden treasure. Being able to take photos with no other tourists around was great! It's worth the trip and the small $2 foreigners fee for the climb.

Well worth the visit if you are already out and about in Takeo. A gem of a find. The dissapointing thing was that it was a trash dump. Plastic, styrophome, wrappers and bottles everywhere including inside the actual building. An absolute mess. Sadly so typical of so many attractions. And part of the justification of entrance fee is to pay for maintenance and cleaning. The Cambodians, the main offenders, pay no entrance fee.
