Merridale is a delicious destination in the Cowichan Valley-an apple...

Merridale is a delicious destination in the Cowichan Valley-an apple orchard, craft cider house, small batch distillery, and wedding and event venue. Learn about the production of cider and spirits through a tour. Stroll the orchard while the kids search for faeries living amongst the cider apple trees, and then step up to the tasting bar for a guided tasting of our cider, spirits, or fortified ciders. Shop for local artisan items in the farmhouse store. Celebrate a special occasion with family and friends at a unique and beautiful venue. Experience glamping on Vancouver Island with a stay in one of our yurts. Check our website for upcoming special events, like our Sunday Pizza Nights. Pets are welcome! In our bistro, enjoy local cuisine, a large patio overlooking our orchard, and, of course, apple cider hand-crafted just steps from the bistro's kitchen. This authentic Vancouver Island restaurant combines cider pairings and seasonal menu items inspired by nearby Cowichan Valley farmers, vintners, and cheese-makers. Bring home delicious baked goods made fresh that morning in our brick oven. Merridale is located in Cobble Hill, in the Cowichan Valley, on the southeast coast of Vancouver Island, about 40 minutes north of Victoria and 1 hour and 20 minutes south of Nanaimo. Open daily.

We enjoyed a lovely lunch at Merridale. It is a little off the beaten path (I have to admit that we have lived in Victoria for a decade and don't venture up north nearly often enough) but so worth it. While the wait staff seemed a bit disorganized to begin with, our server more than made up for it. A... More

We visited to taste and buy some cider. Lovely stuff! You can buy bottles but we brought my son-in-law's growler to refill. Worth the trip!

The cider tasting was great. Just wish the restaurant was open for dinners as well as lunch during the summer months as it is such a wonderful ambiance.

Made a reservation for lunch yesterday for 4 of us. We were greeted pleasantly and seated right away at a beautiful corner table overlooking the orchard - spectacular setting for sure. A server came and took our order and brought our food without an overly long wait... so far, so good. The food we found frankly a little bland and... More

Beautiful venue but sadly lacking. Been here several times but terribly disappointing. Flight of cider was basically a thimble full for each variety. Duck "wings" where terribly over cooked and ingredients listed on menu where not present. Waitress vanished. Nothing was done about my dissatisfaction of meal... No one ever came and asked how the meal was. This venue needs... More

Drove up here from Victoria. It's a beautiful orchard and area to visit. I enjoyed the cider flights as well. My favourite was the house cider :) They also do cocktail flights. The price for flights was also reasonable. Make sure you have a dd with you as there are a lot of ciders and spirits to taste

We are happy you had such a nice experience here at Merridale. You’re right about the designated driver—you could spend the whole afternoon tasting our craft ciders and spirits! All of our tastings are available at the tasting bar, or join us in the Merridale bistro and get a flight and try all of our ciders or cocktails. Lots to... More

My friend and I visited Merridale after our Kinsol Trestle walk. How could we not, as it was right on the route home and the afternoon begged refreshment? We sat outside in the lovely gin kettle gazebo with the fresh breezes blowing. I enjoyed a taster tray of six of the ciders available from the very dry traditional British Scrumpy... More

Another place we always visit when on the Island. Always try the sample session as there are many varieties of cider, once tasted you will be in a better position to purchase the ones you like. A good bistro is on site with a varied selection of food and drink. We visited here twice in 5 days and enjoyed both... More

Thank you for this great review of Merridale! Our tasting bar is very helpful in choosing what Merridale products you want to purchase as you can do tastings of our craft ciders, spirits, or brandies and fortifieds. Nice selection of ciders, from dry to semi-sweet, in a beautiful setting. Hard to find if you don't know the area, but well worth the visit.

Thank you for taking the time to post this review of Merridale. Sometimes it can be a challenge navigating Cobble Hill, BC, and the surrounding Cowichan Valley. We would love to put up more signage, but unfortunately we are not allowed. Thank you for finding us! Our craft cider tastings are a perfect way to try our variety of ciders... More
