Great place to learn about the Scottish migration to Ireland and the following Irish & Scot-Irish migration to the USA
Sep 2019
This is an especially interesting trip, if you have a Scottish or Irish Surname. These folks are geneology experts and can place your family almost to a farmers field!! They will register you and give you a certificate on the spot! Mr Clark, of you tube fame, will also provide a demonstration of how flax is broken down to the fiber that is used to make irish linen.

Fantastic resource & Great people
Jul 2019 • Family
While a little out of the way, the friendliness, knowledge and passion of the staff more than makes up for the drive. This is a must for anyone doing genealogy. Regardless of interest in your family tree, the history of the region is laid out in an accessible way. In addition to the dry facts and dates as provided in some museums, the political and economic motivators that drove the events are available and on display. It brought to life the region's past and its heritage.

Do not miss this. I'm so glad we found it.

Lovely old building full of information concerning the history of the Scots in the Laggan region of Donegal. Very helpful and friendly staff, who organise various historical talks and events throughout the year.

Warm welcome with lots of help and guidance
Oct 2017 • Couples
We visited the Heritage Centre as part of a family history search, the welcome, guidance and information we received was brilliant. They have leaflets covering the many aspects of life in the area covering many centuries. There is also a library of videos covering lots of different subjects; from the various stages of flax making to famous forefathers. The Monreagh church is also well worth a visit. The ambience is lovely; warm and welcoming. We were lucky enough to attend a Harvest Festival service conducted by Reverend David Latimer; it was very uplifting.

Great place to visit, much to see and do. The most friendly and helpful staff you would wish to meet. Working demonstrations of flax production, blacksmithing, spinning. baking as it used to be done (and very tasty as well) along with lots of interesting subjects to study. On the day of our visit we were entertained by one of Irelands top groups playing Blue Grass music along with singing and dancing. A T.V. interview with one of Donegal's finest poets, Samuel Fletcher, was enjoyed. Altogether an excellent day out. Thank you Monreagh.

Day coach tour to Monreagh Heritage Centre
May 2017 • Friends
We visited Monreagh as a group of 61 and it was really interesting with lots to see and hear in the Heritage Centre. We had a flax growing demonstration and a visit to Monreagh Presbyterian Church. The staff and volunteers were so helpful and well prepared for a large group. I will definitely be back to spend more time as there is so much to take in. Thanks so much for a great afternoon.

A link to the Donegal family's past

Fascinating place to visit, made even more interesting during Heritage Week. Several talks on links to World War One, the Somme, and stories on local men and women who had gone off to the front were the highlights but the centre is worth visiting at any time. Language fans of Ulster Scots will be very interested.

Back to our childhood

Visited here on a very wet day and were delighted with our welcome from Samantha - 'I'll put the kettle on' - and she did!! We knew the place well as our family were members of the church for many years with relatives buried there. A fascinating visit with so much information beautifully presented - a must for ancestor seekers. The staff were well informed and very willing and able to deal with any queries.
