Unfortunately the big buddha was under construction while we were there, I am sure once completed it should be lovely to go and see but I didn't get the vibe that it will be like a true Thai place of worship experience but more of...More

Lovely visit to the Big Buddha. Beautiful views and very interesting. The Temple is still being finished but you can go inside and there’s lots to see. We got a taxi up here as it’s quite a hill to walk up. You need to dress...More

It was interesting to learn about Buddhism.Took photos, etc. There was an elephant riding place up the street. It was not a sanctuary, more like a tourist thing.

We visited this grand monument mid week. Got there with our SRC travel private driver. You need only about 30 minutes, but more if you want to line for the Monk Blessing. Make sure you have a scarf or sarong to cover your shorts and...More

Built in 2004 and still not finished. As its promoted as a major tourist attraction I would think the local government would help fund to completion. The Big Buddha is impressive but with rusted reinforcing steel and unfinished concrete it takes the shine off the...More

Wonderful place to visit and must see when in Phuket. We combined the visit with an ATV/elephant trekking and was definitely our favourite activity for the trip.

The donation is made in a box so technically it could be any currency or gold but I’m sure they’d appreciate not having to take USD to currency exchange especially if small amount. You can also support by purchasing a marble... More
