    Charming
Slightly dreading having to have a guided tour but our guide, Davidson was fab. Very knowledgeable but not long winded. It was hot but glad I wore long trousers as we went into the serval’s habitat, in the bushes. Leopards, cheetahs and lions are the real highlight. Clearly a genuine sanctuary not a tourist trap.
Thank you so much for your great review. We're really happy to hear that you found your tour with Davison so enjoyable and informative. We really appreciate your support.

    Can't recommend Tenikwa enough!
A quite incredible few days... booked as a part of a journey along the garden route we thought tow nights would be enough at Tenikwa. As it was we would have happily stayed there a lot longer. It was so good to see all the wildlife up close and personal and to stay in the Lion lodges brought it all that much closer. Learning about all the work they do was quite awe inspiring and just for this they need huge recognition. Now all that would make it worthy of an excellent/five star rating but add in the quality of care and welcome that the staff brought to us and it takes the whole experience to another level. I can only say that if you are even vaguely in the area you must book to visit and stay at Tenikwa!
Thank you so much for your incredible review. We are so happy to hear that you had such an incredible time during your visit here, and we really enjoyed hosting you. We'll be sure to pass on all your lovely comments to the whole team. We're very proud of the efforts everybody makes to ensure guests have the best experience they can when they come to visit us. Thank you so much for all your support.

    Amazing Experience
We booked the Lion Cabin & it was worth it. To hear the Lions Roar at 5am made the hair on our arms stand up !! The food was cooked for us by delightful staff. Nothing was too much trouble. To see all the animals and hear about their stories was one of the highlights of our visit. Keri looked after us on our tour & was so attentive during our two night stay. The gift shop and jewellery on offer was amazing & a few purchases were made.
Thank you so much for your great review. We're very proud of all our staff and it's always nice to know how much visitors appreciate the team's efforts. It was fantastic having you stay with us and we really hope you can return of you get the opportunity. Thank you so much for your support.

After watching the video it was quite clear to us we would not see any of the animals in for rehabilitation and the reason why. We did see numerous types of cats, meerkats, warthog, and birds which cannot be rehabilitated. Our guide, Ash, was great and encouraged our questions. We felt privileged to have being able to spend time with these animals at such close quarters. Most of the cats are very lazy in the wild and I don’t know why people think they need a huge space in captivity. They appeared well cared for and content and were not showing signs of stress. It is a pity they have to be kept in runs but surely that is better than the alternative of being trophy hunted?

I really loved this ad really felt honest and animal centric. Animal hospital on site, very knowledgeable guides, one on one tour available. There is no option for silly posing or pranks, animals are not there to be petted.. just what i wanted.. Animals being left alone! You can go in the enclosures with the smaller cats, but at a distance, unless they choose to visit you. Such a good day.

Our guide msizi was amazing! Well explained everything and a true passion for those animals. Altough we didnt saw everything it was a nice experience and we'll recommend it further.

Ps: bring suncreme, most of the tour is without shade. We arrived without a reservation and just hopped on a 1h tour (which lasted a bit longer as he tried to spot the animals - thanks for that!).

We opted for a one hour big cat experience tour. Ended up being a private tour as we were the only family there.

Metobyci (pronounced Muh Toby C) was so knowledgable and friendly. We learnt a lot about the animals, and Metobyci was happy to share about his family life etc. He was patient and was determined that we would see everything. Absolutely fascinating. My son treated himself to one of their ornaments as a memory of the lovely morning we spent there. Had a toastie snack and used the very clean bathroom facilities to get changed into, ready for a kayak trip we were doing in the afternoon. The staff were fine about this.

Thank you for your lovely review and for mentioning Mthobisi :) We love to have children on tour, they are our future and absorb the information like sponges. Hope you enjoyed the kayaking in our beautiful coca-cola rivers! Come back soon !!!

We had the hourly tour and it was very informative. Dan was our guide and he clearly knew the animals well. It is sad that these animals cannot be rehabilitated but nice that they get to live out their lives in comfort. We went in the middle of the day so of course all the cats were sleeping - but very happy to be photographed!

This place does wonderful work and it is nice to be able to support it whilst having a good time. A great place to visit!

Had a wonderful tour by this dedicated team of staff at Tenikwa. It was great to see the lions, cats, meerkats leopard and cheetah. Thank you Dan and everybody on how kind and caring you are not just towards the animals but also for looking after me when I overheated in the sunshine. Very embarrassing but I didn’t want to cut short our tour, so appreciate the time you took for me to cool off before we carried on the tour. We wish you all well in the future for your centre. Please visit this sanctuary and support them if you in the area.

In november 25, 2010 i did the cheetah walking with 3 friends and 3 other people. We were 7 in total. After drinking water one adult male cheetah come to the group of people and atacked me three times. I got injured and had 8 sticks in my legs.

I definitely do not recommend this walking, as i am sure that the tenikwa do not provide enough security. The cheetahs can get free from the leads easily and they are wild animals. Hopefully i am ok now, but could be much worst.
