- T-SGlobetrottersPreston, United Kingdom3,807 contributionsFun place to visitLocated opposite the Quiming Temple the two towers sit either side of a brightly coloured dragon which is crowned with a statue of Guanyin. You have the opportunity to walk up steps into the dragons mouth, half-way through the dragons body, there is a simple alter are before exiting at the other end. Lots of turtles sunning themselves around the side of shallow ponds made for an entertaining ten minutes watching their antics. There is a pier that takes you onto the lake itself. More fun seaside attractions here including the hen that lays golden eggs!Visited November 2023Traveled as a coupleWritten November 30, 2023

With so many temples scattered around the area, Zuoying is the best place to experience the local religious life. The Spring and Autumn Pavilions is a figurative example. Local folk stories are presented like cartoon characters. An interesting place to explore.Visited December 2023Traveled with familyWritten January 13, 2024

You can see her riding on the back of a dragon that stretches between the two pagodas. You can walk through the dragon and see murals inside, and there's a pavilion with great views if you walk along the pier into the lake. It's free, and it's right across the road from the Qing Court!Visited January 2024Traveled as a coupleWritten January 22, 2024

The Spring and Autumn Pavilions are two pavilions that are parts of a Taoist temple. It was located at the Lotus Pond and about 700 meters away from the Dragon Pagoda and Tiger Pagoda, but the lotus flowers in this area were lighter pink. I didn't have time to walk inside the dragon, which indicated that there was also a stucco on the wall. You can walk through to the pavilion that protrudes into the pond. Across the street there is Qi Min Tang Temple, which I also did not have time to have a good look.

Spring and Autumn Pagoda is located as Tsuoying, 12 km (around 7 miles) from Kaohsiung. It is built in the middle of the renowned Lotus Pond. A 200 metre (650 feet) high mountain stands behind the pagoda. The fengshui is said the be good. The combination of the pagoda and mountain creates attractive scenery.

5 different monuments and twmples in the area. Lot of local markets and stands on the streets. Get here early in the day to avoid tour buses and heat. Gets quite hot and humid.

During my previous trip to Taiwan, i visited Kaoshiung to stop at Fo Guang Shan. My local guide recommended me to visit the pavillions during our short 3d2n stay at Kaoshiung.
The pavillions itself are pretty okay for tourist attraction, but for a seasoned traveller, the wow factor just isn't there.
However that does not imply that you should write this place off completely. The pavillions are actually a major hub of the townspeople for daily leisure activities. Moreover, it is surrounded by a cluster of temples with beautiful architecture and history.
To completely get the best of this site, you should take a gander at what the locals are doing around the temple. During my visit, i saw a bunch of old folks doing tai chi and gymnastics, and there are a crowd of people watching 2 old men play chess. When you finish, go for a cup of coffee in one of the cafes that dot the lakeside. You can walk and visit the other temples as well, and each of them has their own merits to savor.
I must say, i kind of feel bad for people who go here with tour groups. The tour groups seemed to only allow an hour of a visit in this wonderful place, which does not allow one to enjoy the best of this folksy town square.

This place is not a must-go especially if you're visiting for a few days only. The structures are not that finely made. Nothing much to see also. The pagodas are under renovation, so tourists are not allowed to enter. But the tour guide told us that if you were to enter the pagodas, remember to enter through the dragon and exit through the tiger-- just a little info.
The temples are really nice, pay a visit if you go there.

We live near the Lotus Pond and we often enjoy walking around the various pagodas in the afternoon. If you begin with the Dragon and Tiger Pagodas, this is the next structure when walking toward the Confucius Temple. This pavilion is very nice for taking pictures on the long walkway out into the pond. We also enjoy buying food from the funny looking fish statue and feeding the turtles near the entrance.

If dragons are your thing stroll along lotus lake and see this pagoda. Fun to walk through and then enjoy looking at the turtles.

Located in the Lotus Pond scenic area, together with the nearby Dragon & Tiger Pagodas, Cihji Palace, Confucius Temple, Five Mile Pavilion, & other local temples... there's also a nearby local market & bus stop
