A 2 hr ride from McLeod Ganj , but worth every bit of it. If you are up for it book an auto - tuktuk instead of the traditional car.
The temples are beautifully carved from a single rock overlooking a vast landscape.
Do not forget to carry some dough for the fish feeding.
Bishan an Auto driver is familiar with the terrain and also serves as a good guide. He also has some interesting trivia to share while on the ride.

Masrur temples:

The complex of the rock cut temples of Masrur were carved out of the hillside in the 8th century, and, because of the ASI’s incredible restoration work, the intricacy of the carvings can be seen even today. Very imposing, and a definite must-see

It takes a while to reach ( almost 1.5 hours from dharamshala) but well worth it.

Suggestion : if you are flying into gaggal airport early in the morning do the masrur temple and then head towards dharamshala

Much of the temple complex is broken due to the earthquake of 1905, but its past beauty can be clearly seen .

It gets quite hot in the summer afternoons, especially because there’s not much shade, so keep yourself hydrated, keep sunscreen and a sun hat handy . Ideally try to reach masrur either early in the morning or in the evening

Keep around 30 min _ 1 hour ( dep on your interest) for you to soak in this beauty

Good bathroom facilities are available.

Lots of good spots to take photos/selfies.

Also, mind the bees. They’re harmless, but circle people quite a bit.

The place is poorly maintained. It can be made into a great tourist spot if the government wants. Old temples destroyed by an earthquake. Approach road is poorly
Maintained. No restrooms - one avail at very top. The sorry part is that one has to pay for the ticket using a online mode. Foreigners cannot do this. So you need to request the guard or some other local person. Costs about fifty cents.

No guides. One needs to observe the idols carefully and can identify Indra, Surya, Murugan et. Al.

Can visit if time permits.

A great monument, clean and tidy. An ancient temple complex, something different. Architectural masterpiece . A lovely waterbody in front of it. Entry ticket is ₹ 20 but mode of payment is on line. Not many steps and easily accessible, do visit.

A great experience. Worth a visit . We two couples Visited this place today from Jwalamukhi Himachal Pradesh. About thirty kms away. A hidden treasure. Worth a visit.
The Masrur Temples, also referred to as Masroor Temples or Rock-cut Temples at Masrur, is an early 8th-century complex of rock-cut Hindu Temples in the Kangra Valley near the Beas River in Himachal Pradesh, India. The temples face northeast, towards the Dhauladhar range of the Himalayas. They are a version of North Indian Nagara architecture style, dedicated to Shiva, Vishnu, Devi and Saura traditions of Hinduism with its surviving iconography likely inspired by a henotheistic framework.

A beautiful rock cut temple. Place is also beautiful. Mythologically this Rama temple was build by pandav. A pool is in front of temple. The temple was partially demolished due to earthquake in the year 1905.
It is approx 50 km distance from Mcleodgunj.
Maximum tourist escapes this place but it is must visit place. You will have to buy ticket online.

A cool and nice trip with family. Nice place to visit on. Approaching way is till to the Temple and perfect and smooth. A nice single piece rock Temple that's handcrafted by Pandwa's some structure's are prefect and still in that same position but some are altered by Government to preserve it for a longer time after the 1905's Earthquake.

It's a small temple made out of rock, it makes sense to visit this place by combining it with pong dam which is just 15 kms from this place. There are two roads going to this place, shorter route is via gaggal and internal link road and another longer route is via Kangra. If you prefer good road, then via Kangra is recommended.

The rock cut temple is worth a visit.

- Coming from Dharamshala side the inside route though shorter is in poor condition.
- Use the Pathankot highway as its better.
- Rs 5 ticket per person available at the gate.
- Lovely temple complex however most of it has crumbled over the years.
- Largely restored by ASI. Good job at keeping it from crumbling further but terrible job at retaining its original beauty.
- View point, fish feeding, tuck shop and restrooms are available.
- Adequate parking facility.
- Not much time required here so combine your visit with Pong Dam or dome other nearby attraction.
- Flooding of temple complex restricts movement and access to the view point.

Worth a visit.
