Dating back to 1894 (20th year of Emperor Guangxu 光緒), it was the official guest house for senior officials from the central government of Qing Dynasty. It was moved to the Taipei Botanical Garden by the Japanese colonial government in 1932.

Because it is an official building, the architectural materials and decoration are exquisite and elegant. The layout is majestic. It is the only official building of the Qing Dynasty remaining in Taiwan. Has a significant historical meaning but was neglected for a long period of time.

Currently it is closed for renovation. Hope it will be restored to its former glory after the renovation.

The Qing TynastyTaiwan Provincial Administration Hall, also known as the yamen, can be found in the Taipei Botanic Garden, is the oldest remaining Qing Dynsty structure in Taiwan. It was built in 1882. It is officially known as the Guest House of the Imperial Envoys Museum. The Imperial Envoys visited Taiwan on tours of inspection. Taiwan was considered to be a restive province. In 1895, the island of Taiwan was ceded to Japan, and remained part of the Japanese Empire until 1945. The Administration Hall is easy to find, it's worth a visit if you are in the Botanic Garden.

Although Taiwan has never been part of the People's Republic of China (PRC), it was part of the Qing Dynasty. Taiwan was a Province of the Qing Empire, until 1895, when the island was ceded to Japan. It remained part of the Japanese Empire until 1945, when it was retroceded to the Republic of China (ROC). In the meantime, as this Provincial Administration Hall attests, Taiwan was ruled (rather loosely) by the Qing Emperor in Beijing. The Administration Hall is an interesting historical relic from times gone by.
