Good for supplies ...
Dec 2018 • Couples
When we're on the road, we like to have certain supplies with us at all times. For example, we like a nice supply of bananas. This market will do the trick for those local needs. Compared to markets across Asia, this one (and others like it in Taiwan) is clean, not smelly and easy to shop in. I've been to some that seem like fire hazards just waiting to happen, but this one felt safe and easy. Easily marked, too. We were headed to the Museum of Contemporary Art when we found it. If you have some basic needs, this will be the place for you. The surrounding area is expensive, so the reviewer who found a good, cheap cup of coffee had the right idea. We spent an entire afternoon elsewhere in the surrounding streets looking for a reasonably priced coffee ...

Overrated, nothing really to see, Mia of random stalls all put together with random items for sale. You won’t miss on anything by not going there

This is not really for tourists
Feb 2016 • Couples
Locals may love it here and the food is fresh. As far as cleanliness, I’m not sure? I have a Chinese wife so I was ok but if you don’t speak the local language, you will find it very difficult. Stick to restaurants and Nightmarkets is my advice unless you are truly adventurous.

Local experience!
Nov 2015 • Friends
Living in Hong Kong, I am use to going into a wet market and being pushed, people yelling and everything is bright and loud. But this one, has a very tranquil feel to it. There wasn't a lot of people, the hallways were spacious. The people there are not rushing are being loud at all.
As a market, you would definitely find cheap eats. Too bad we didn't have time to eat at the store inside, it looks clean and the food looks very local. We did have time for a coffee at the stand next to the food store. This is a good stop for morning coffee. We were there around 10:00.
I asked for the Taiwan coffee, but the guy said the bean wasn't roasted properly, and asked for the flavour I liked. He recommended a cheaper and very nice coffee. We stayed there for a half hour and have never felt so calm in a market. It had been the best coffee I had in Taipei with the great atmosphere.
If you are looking for local experience and being relaxed, this will be a good choice. There is nothing fancy about this place. It is after all a local market, but it was nice seeing locals buy daily needs while enjoying your own holiday. It is not hard to find from the metro station and there are signs on the streets to guide you there.
