We went Mukumugi on Friday so there were not many people. When you get there, you need to stop your car or scooter on the road side and go through a very dark cave to the waterfall place. The water under the waterfall is very clean and not too deep so people can go down and have fun is the pool. I must say the place is really beautiful, if you go there in sunny days, you can see the Tiffany blue water is shining. Strongly recommend wearing mosquito repellent if you are going there in summer.

If you go there, you need to apply a pass at the police station.I suggest you drive there, because you have to walk a long way into the mountain. Although the road is hard, you can see the beautiful nature. You will be surprised, and forget the hard walk. Mukumugi Valley’s water is very clear. It will make you want to jump into the water and swim. There are many protruding rocks, where people can jump from the top, very exciting.
Do you want to try it ?

The only part that is open, is a short trail through a tunnel to a rather plain pond, where you can't swim. The beautiful part is still closed due to land slides, as i found out at the police station during my second attempt to get there. I still tried but couldn't find it. I do not recommend taking the trouble to the "open but ugly part".

There's a really nice waterfall on this area. Hike up and go thru a long tunnel and there's one waterfall but in the right side, there's a trail that goes to zimu waterfall. Have to go cross the river and some boulders. Not for the faint of heart.😁 Really fun stuff.

This place is really fun to river trace. There's a small pond about 20 minutes up. If you go past there a few miles you'll find a beautiful waterfall and a nice place to swim.

The folks at my hostel told me about this place. I took a city but to a small town. From there I hiked to the police station where I had to fill out a form for a pass. I then took that pass to the next police station and from there walked down the trail. It was so beautiful. The highlight was swimming in a beautiful water hole that was not crowded with people. On the hot day in June I was there it was amazing.

Get your cab to drop you off at the police bereau. Worth the long walk. Pack a lunch, water, and snacks. We spent the entire day there swimming a different spots along the way.

Mukumugi valley is closed for the time being due to damages caused by the September typhoon. This is the information we got at the tourist information center (next to the Hualien train station).

Mukumugi is a very beautiful place. Mukumugi is truly one of the best places to experience the great nature of Taiwan. When you look at the water appears to be emerald green but when you get close you notice just how clear it is. It is allowed to swim. You can see all the fish swimming around. I just sat on the rock enjoyed the breeze across my face breathed the fresh air and felt the cool stream flowing around my ankles. It is always a good time.

It's a bit of a hike to get there but the reward is worth it. Stunning views and crystal clear water you can swim in.
