A beautiful example of modern architecture - this is a great place to hang out on a sunny day. Worth checking out - just try to park near the chapel as we parked on campus kind of far away and it was a bit of a walk to get to it.

This is an earlier work of the renowned Chinese-American architect, the late I. M. Pei, who also designed the Louvre Pyramid of Paris. It is located within the campus of Tunghai University and is about half an hour walk from the car park. It was a nice stroll under the cool November weather. It has a unique structure which resembles the praying hands from both the front and back views. There’s a lawn outside the chapel where people of all ages enjoying their afternoon activities.

We reached in the late afternoon and stayed until the chapel was lit up. We hung around a café to wait until dark. This can be a quick visit if time is short. Too bad it was locked. You have to visit during the Sunday opening hour if you want to view the sanctuary. If I have the opportunity to visit again, I’ll plan to attend the Sunday worship. This’s also one of my favourite Taiwan attractions.

"I came to apologize, and here calmed me down," he whispered.
'' I have been with my girlfriend for many years, I broke up today. I am so confused and helpless.I hope you can accept my apology."

For many years, I still remember that day very clearly .When the morning stars sang together, I couldn’t help but burst into tears.

We could not even imagine God.But from him,we learn about forgive and love.

“我是來道歉的,而這裡使我平靜下來。”他低聲說。“我和女友交往多年,今天分手了。我很惶恐,也很無助,希望你接受我的抱歉。”

一別經年,我仍很清晰地記得那一天。當晨星歌唱,我忍不住淚流滿面。

It was my pleasure to go inside attend a mass with the graduates of the year.

The church gives me a sense of peace and home where I can focus on my connection with God.

The design of the church allows day lights to penetrate into the church, which creates a sacred moment when I was attending the mass. It was like God really exists in there.

Also, the design of the church allows sound echoes around the area where you can feel that you're embraced by the sound of heaven when people are singing hymns together.

I was really a fantasic experience and I did pay visit there everytime when I am in Taichung.

Definitely would recommend others to go!

Beautifully built chapel and worth a visit if you are in Taichung. The Chapel is also popular among locals and a lot of people took photos on the day we visited.

There is a juice bar near the Chapel in the university. Choices varies and is a great deal (around TWD 20 - 80) depends on how many fruits you want. Recommended as well.

I would recommend to visit the university and chapel and Caihongjuan Village on the same day as they are both far away from the city centre. UberX is also recommended to travel between the city centre and the two spots.

No regrets about visiting this famous chapel - the Luce Memorial Chapel . It's only 15 minutes by bus from downtown Taichung. This beautiful chapel - built without a single screw - is located within the grounds of Tunghai Univeristy. It was named in honour of Reverend Henry W. Luce, an American missionary. Since I had arrived around 3pm, the sun was really hot then . The 20 minute walk from the entrance of the university to the chapel ground was made more pleasant by the tall trees. I spotted the chapel from a distance because of its orange tiles and its majestic tent like structure : really unusual ! The slanting roof - which also doubles up as the 4 walls of the chapel - looked like a pair of praying hands to me and reminded me of man's dependancy on God - it's really awesome !!! But what a shame that the chapel was closed or I would have also stepped in to experience the ambience within . Anyway I did peer through the glass panels to try to catch a glimpse of its interior . I also walked around the chapel to get to the other end of the park where the church bell is . After that , I sat under the trees to enjoy the soothing evening breeze, and watch some students in their graduation robes posing for some pictures . I left inspired the grounds by the chapel and the positive atmosphere emanating from it : nice !

Luce Chapel is a chapel of Donghai University, a catholic university. Since its architecture is beautiful, many tourists come to visit this place to take pictures.

They're proud of Luce Chapel, with its concrete parabolas, but it's not worth a special trip. Basically a late twentieth-century chapel with pews and hymnals.
