I visited this park based on recommendation by other travelers. I must say I disappointed after my visited the park because some information were not mentioned in those reviews. While this is a nice little park in a highly populated city it's location is rather inconvenient. One should only try this if you drive or take a cab. My family tried getting there via public transport and we had to walk about 3-4 km before we could reach the park. Also, my son was very disappointed when we found out that we could row a boat in the park. For those who read an earlier review about boat-rowing activity in this park, please note that it does not exist.

The park is very well located (close to the Taichung Railway Station, the National Taiwan Museum of Fine Arts, the National Museum of Science, and the Calligraphy Greenway) and wonderful to go whit the family.

There is plenty of space to the kids to play. Besides, there are some animals close to (and into) the lake (squirrels, ducks, turtles, many species of fish and of birds).

There are also some horses made of rock, nice to have a picture.

This park has really filled out over the last decade. Always lots to do. Bicycling, hiking, kite flying. Great place to escape the city for awhile. The art (sculptures) are certainly unique! Plenty of clean facilities.

This is a big park, located on the outskirts of Taichung.
Entrance is free and the park includes numerous paths (with VERY precise distances written everywhere...), several ponds and some bridges and pagodas.
There's a small cafeteria at the entrance, but nothing too fancy.
If you cross the road after exiting the park, there's a lovely lawn with views of the city.
In case you get here by taxi, bear in mind that getting a taxi back to the city would be almost impossible, as taxis rarely pass through here. However, you can take bus 324 back to the city. The bus sstation is located just next to the park's entrance.

The park is huge, I mean you need 2 - 3 hours if plan to see the whole park. Many trees and family having picnic and flying kites and children riding bicycles. There is no entrance free and there is many running trails. If you have extra time in TaiChung, go and take a look.

For families, I recommend the four person bike if you feel like renting. Even walking through this park is very interesting, and watch out for special events, like concerts. Lots of people also like to fly kites here.

We had only limited time to go around Taichung, but decided to visit this exquisite park (based on TripAdvisor recommendation)! Very popular by locals (especially in January) it provides a perfect setup for relaxation or romance. Or both. If you haven't been to Metropolitan park, you haven't experienced the true Taichung! One time is not enough! Don't forget a kite! (Or Kate...)

Here you can rent a bike and go for 1 hour ride. Besides that, you can also find some street performers during the weekend.

A nice calming place in the middle of the biggest city in Taiwan. Very nice to walk around and view the artistry of the park. A couple of people playing instruments on the sidewalks. An old guy feeding pidgeons and ducks. Row boat rentals. A little waterfall. Old guys playing cards. A squirrel that would take food from people. A woman walking her rabbit. It was just nice and relaxing.

The Taichung Metropolitan Park is a nice oasis of greenery near Tunghai University in Taichung. There are two paved hiking trails (one takes about 70 minutes and the other about 45 minutes.) The trails are well maintained. Getting to the park is easy by car or public transportation. Parking is plentiful and even though we went on a Saturday, there were not that many other people at the park.
There is a circular biking trail but it is disappointingly short. You can do the whole loop in 20 minutes even at a leisurely pace.
