Xiangshan Park is a good place to start your trek the along Elephant Mountain trail. The trail is quite steep, but not too difficult. You get a great view of Taipei 101 and over the city from the trail. Best place to leave the MRT Red Line is Xiangshan Station. Take something to drink, and also a snack. This is a popular hike with younger people. By the way, "Xiangshan" means "Elephant Mountain" in English.

Xiang Shan is the jumping off point for the Xiangshan Trail, known in English as Elephant Mountain. The Xiangshan Trail is a favorite trek for energetic hikers. The park is very pleasant, it's not far from the Red Line MRT station. You get a good view of Taipei 101 from the trail. By the way, be sure to take something to drink and a snack. Try to avoid the hottest time of the day.

Peiole come to this park to Exercise, jog play basketball and do hiking. The main attraction I guess is to hike and see Taipei 101 at a height at sunset.
Disembark at the end terminus of red line, Xiangshan where you can find the park nearby. Once at the park, look for Xiangshan trail which is about 650 m fron the station or you can locate it with Google Maps (an essential lifesaver!).
The trail entrance is near to few buildings where you can miss it. Usually there will be a lot of people taking the entrance so if you just flow you won't get lost. Entrance is free of charge.
There are few spots where you can get good angle of Taipei 101 but usually there will be a lot of people. What you need to do is to squeeze in 😅

It is one of the nicest park in Taipei City. A moderate size park with a few play ground for kids and few courts for locals youngster playing games till late evening.
You can have a nice view of Taipei 101 from there at certain angle. This park is just next to Xiangshan where you can hike up the trail to have a good view of Taipei City especially the Taipei 101!
The park will be hot during summer noon but cooling towards evening. Anyway, they have lots of trees to make shade.
Good place for young and old... Locals and Foreigners as well...
Xiangshan MRT station is just next to the park...
It is basically located at housing area and public toilets are available.
Overall, I strongly recommend it if you are looking for a park to stroll around.

Recommended for a short hike - climbing the steps of the Elephant track for stunning views over Taipei, including 101. The iconic photos are taken on a rock outrock. Unfortunately when I visited it was cloudy and much of the view was obscured in clouds. But it's a good walk - you'll need to take water, wear decent shoes and be prepared to build up a good sweat!

Near to the Xiangshan MRT Station. Good playground for the kids. Public restrooms are available. Right at the foot of Xiangshan, well known as Elephant Mountain or Mount Elephant. You can walk through this park to reach the hiking trail.

Very sweaty and quite hot during July but worth to climb up and enjoy the sun set view! There are a lot if people lining up to take photos on the elephant rocks so it take time before you can get good photos.

Xiangshan (Elephant Mountain) No elephant on the mountain but you will find lots of mosquitoes :-) so remember to bring insects repellent. Great place to get a good view of Taipei 101 from a distance. There are a lot of viewpoints along the trail to the top of the mountain that you can see Taipei 101. I visited the mountain during daytime so the view is clear. What I understand is that the night scene is better than daytime. And lots of people whenever there is fireworks from Taipei 101.

Easily accessible from the train station. Just a few mins walk. A simple hike with spectacular views. Hike only takes about 30 mins but take note that the entire hike are stairs. There are handrails so it’s relatively safe and easy. Suggest to hike up during the sunset and wait till the sky turns dark to see the night scene. There are lamps along the hike so u can hike down easily at night. There is a long queue on the famous rock for photographs so take note to go earlier if u are going there for that picture.
