I just finished a three day hike to Dabajianshan with Taiwan Adventures. It was simply an amazing experience. Our group was led by a knowledgeable guide, Ross - thank you! The timing of everything worked out so well and every detail was planned and executed beautifully. Even the deluge of rain couldn't dampen our spirits - it was an absolutely amazing trip and I highly recommend it!

This is a much belated review, but better late than never. My husband and I hiked with Ross from Taiwan Adventures to Dali-Datong villages and back, a 2 day, 1 night trip with a stay at a bunkhouse in Datong. The hike was incredible. The scenery was gorgeous, the hike and camp was quite a good workout and exactly what we were hoping to accomplish. The village bunkhouse we stayed at was very accommodating, with the friendliest locals, and I dare say even 'fancy' for expecting backpacking type accommodations (only backpacking I've done that had a hot shower available). The home-made cooking and food at the end of the hike was certainly a highlight.
But I can't stress enough how much this wonderful experience was in large part because we had Ross as our guide. We really appreciated all of the effort that Ross put into coordinating and planning with us to make the trip happen. He made sure all the details were taken care of from the moment we landed in Hualien to us hopping back on the HRT out of Taipei. He lent us the pack, supplies and rain gear. Lunch and snacks during the hike were great as well. Having Ross as a super knowledgeable and experienced guide on this trip was invaluable; he is well prepared and trained to handle emergency situations and has hiked/climbed many mountains in Taiwan; he is very familiar with the area, the animals (having done animal rescues himself in the area), the plant life, and the locals. He is attentive to making sure we're taking breaks we need but also staying on track with time. We got to stop by for a quick stomp in the river at the end of the hike which was another highlight. And we had time for a quick side trip to see the Qingshui Cliffs on our way out of Hualien. Ross is also just a fun hiking companion and we enjoyed learning about all of his experiences, hiking stories, and animal rescue stories. My husband and I already have more trips on our bucket list for mountains in Taiwan and we will only do it with Taiwan Adventures.

Wow, thank you so much for the review.
I had such a great time with you two and I'm sorry it took so long for me to answer.
I know the snacks you're referring to and, yes, my unique tastes.
Thanks again, and I'll be happy to take you out anytime!

Professional, expert, friendly mountain guides. Taiwan Adventures handled every aspect of our trip up Jade Mountain from registration of permits, providing training advice, equipment rentals, pickup, and even lunch on the trail. I felt we were in safe hands. Plus they’re friendly, and personable which makes the adventure that much more fun. I appreciated the great photos they took along the three day excursion.
Can’t say enough good things about Taiwan Adventures service and knowledge of Taiwan trails. They are such a great resource that they make me want to go on more Taiwan adventures with them.

Just back from an incredible adventure to Snow Mountain led by a knowledgeable, attentive, and responsible guide - Ross. One of the top treks I've done to date, from the views, to the food, to the company - Taiwan Adventures really knows how to create memorable experiences. Highly recommended!

Just hiked Taroko National Park with these guys and they are good, really very good! Well organised, experienced and ready to tailor your tour to your wishes or needs without blinking.
Taroko has super scenery, hot springs, cold rivers, dark tunnels, historic attractions, uphills, downhills, plant, animals and more to experience and photograph.
Getting there on the MTR then bus then train then car ads to the adventure and exposes you to country Taiwan.
If you have ended up in Taipei on business, visiting friends or just on a whim then take a couple of extra days and book these guys, you are very unlikely to regret it!

Taiwan Adventures organized the perfect expedition for us- from permits to transportation, to pre-hike information, to workouts, to the actual climb, the entire trip with them was a pleasure. Our guide, Stu, was awesome and really helped us all have a good time. In a heartbeat I'd join them again. Don't think twice about joining one of their tours!
P.S. I'll fly back for Nanhudashan!!!

Neil took us to see the 3 waterfalls, it was an easy trail, nice scenery, one little section that was mildly challenging. The day went smoothly and we were lucky it didn't rain. Neil is very knowledgeable, attentive and we very much enjoyed the trip. Will do it again Thank you Neil

My partner and I did a hiking trail of Wuliaojian and Teapot Mountain recently (7/8 and 9/8). Neil was our guide and we loved it. Neil was organised and on time to pick us up for our hike. Wuliaojian was really good..lots of rope climbing and it was challenging but fun...Teapot Mountain had such amazing views and it was worth the hike. Neil was knowlegeable aroud the area and we finished our hike early and he drove us to the rock formations and Longong for a short hike. He was happy to answer any questions and provided us guidance around the area. Really helpful. In a nutshell, join at least the day trips when in Taiwan.. really enjoyable.

My hiking weekend organised by Taiwan adventures was excellent. Everything was well organised and there was a really good atmosphere among the group. On top of that, after a hard day's hike we got to sit in some beautiful, and refreshing, rivers to cool off. Highly recommended!

Hi, I have been trying to contact Taiwan Adventures through their website on both phone and website, but on both it shows me "error" when trying to send a message. Is there an email I can use to contact you? I am writing from Canada. Thanks.

Hello,
Sorry about that. We've been under a email hacking attack for a few weeks now, and it looks like our email server finally gave up yesterday. We've fixed the problem, but TripAdvisor won't let me link to it in this response. Please just go back to our website and fill out the new form.

Hello, I will be in Cingjing from 16 Oct to 18 Oct, and I am thinking of hiking the North Peak Hehuanshan on 17 Oct. How do I get to the North hehuanshan starting point and do I need a permit? How long is the hike?

I will be in Hualien from 16 to19 Aug 2017, thought of doing a day hike in Zuliu Old Trail. Will be nice if someone can provide more information regarding the application of 2 permits and accident insurance coverage.

Hello. We will be in Taiwan in August for a little over 1 week. Is it possible to do a tour from Taipei down to Tainan then over to Taitung, up to Hualien, Yilan, and back to Taipei in 6 days? Or is that too difficult? If so, which cities / areas should we concentrate on? We are a party of four adults.

Hello, in general yes, but it is strong calculated. I personally recommend for Tainan at least over night and at least one full day or two. Enjoy the food in the evening! I do not have experience from Tainan to Taitung, but should take approx. 4 hours. From Taitung you can take train or bus to Hualien (3-5 hours). If you have a car, you can stop easily at the cost. I did it with bus and stoped three times. But this took me approx. 12 hours.
From Hualien you can take train to Yilan and train to Taipei.
It depends on what you would like to do there. The cities Taitung and Hualien are not special. Most people go there to enjoy the nature around, which could take some time more. I did delphin watching (1 day) and Hiking in Taroko (full weekend) in Hualien, enjoyed the cost from Hualien to Taitung (1 day) and the trip to the Lisong hotspring in Taitung (1 day at the weekend). Guided tours are available at weekends. If you have short time, a guided tour can help. For short time in taroko it is necessary. A train from Taitung to Taipei does take approx. 5-6 hours. I recommend to check the weather on the east cost for August. It is the rain and taifun season.
Enjoy Taiwan

Hi, yeah, I've done it a couple of times. It's a pretty tough 2 day hike or an easier going (but still hard) three day hike.
