- AGW42103Bowling Green, Kentucky106 contributionsWonderful ZooWe spent about 5 hours touring the zoo, and there was so much that we did not have time to see! The animal exhibits were fantastic! We loved the pandas, the koala bears, the monkeys, the dome, and more! It is very easy to access, right at a MRT stop.Visited October 2023Traveled with familyWritten October 6, 2023
- Jonas LManila, Philippines256 contributionsQuality zoodefinitely recommended for the family. Quite big zoo with lots of animals living on a good facility. The quality of the attractions are also quite nice. I particulry like the koala and reptiles part. The zoo is easy to access via MRT and entrace fee is surprisingly very affordable considering the quality of the zooVisited September 2023Traveled with familyWritten October 29, 2023
- ManaPetPrague, Czech Republic649 contributionsZOO at its bestThat has never been so easy. This ZOO is the probably the best I have seen so far. And yes, I have been to San Diego, Brooklyn, Edinburgh, Madrid or Vienna. All of them are nice, but this one is just perfect. Beautiful enclosures, nice looking animals and perfect information in both chinese and english. Six and a half hours were not enough to visit all of the areas for me, but I have been enjoying myself, if you are in a hurry, plan for 4 hours anyway.Visited November 2023Traveled soloWritten November 28, 2023
- Daniel W36 contributionsHighlight of TaipeiZoos are often left off from travel plans but this one is worth it - comparable with San Francisco or London zoo. Highlights include the Pandas, Elephants and Tigers. Only 60 TWD. Slightly far away at the end of a metro line, but the nearby Gondola can be made part of the trip.Visited March 2024Traveled as a coupleWritten March 9, 2024
- S CSan Francisco, California133 contributionsEnjoyed the diverse exhibits and easy to get toI really enjoyed the zoo. It it a good size zoo and have diverse collection of animals from around the world. Not as big or diverse as the San Diego zoo but glad I visited. BTW, the panda area actually has two "viewing areas" one indoor and one outdoor. Clean bathrooms which was not a surprise. Even the food selections inside (I had the chicken bento box that came with soup) were delicious and such great value compared to the zoos I have visited in the US. Worth a visit if you like animals and have the extra day to spare. Lastly, it was really easy to get to the zoo. Took the train with one transfer from the main train station. You get off right next door to the zoo.Visited February 2024Traveled with friendsWritten March 10, 2024
- ronS0521Vancouver, Canada101 contributionsOne of the better ZoosPlan to be there for a whole day as it is very big. We didn't get there until lunch and ran out of time to see everything. Very nice zoo and easy layout. Some of the enclosures are too small for the animals but they seem to be well taken care of. Must visit if you have kids.Visited March 2024Traveled with familyWritten March 26, 2024
- FMoz4,839 contributionsVery bigIt is one of the better zoos in the world and very vast and extensive. Entrance fee is a token TWD100 for visitors and TWD60 for locals. So, it gets lots of people, particularly local schoolchildren and locals just coming to hang around. But as with any zoo, mammals are miserable and should never be kept like this. It is a good place to see reptiles, though. Very convenient access via commuter train.Visited April 2024Traveled as a coupleWritten April 25, 2024
- shend708Sabah, Malaysia50 contributionsA place for your 10k steps a dayConveniently Taipei zoo is located next to the MRT brown line station. There is an entrance fee to the zoo, we bought our ticket from Klook but you can also buy at the tikit machines outside the entrance gate. The place was amazingly well structured with a lot of resting area, food stalls and toilets. If you're tired of walking there is also a shuttle train to send you up hill to see more interesting animals. The fee is $5 per trip per person. Our train driver was going really fast, I had to hold grip to the seat handle. We spent a good 4 hours in the zoo. The only disappointing thing about the trip was that the Panda house was closed for 2 days when we were there so we didn't get to see them.Visited May 2024Traveled with friendsWritten May 9, 2024
- 100nights19flightsJapan268 contributionsWalking on a SlopeA very good zoo. School groups of all ages were there. Those with small children should be aware that the zoo is on a slope so you'll be pushing a stroller up a hill or stopping it from slowly getting away from you.Visited March 2024Traveled as a coupleWritten May 17, 2024
- Maya Brent7 contributionsPerfect for wildlife enthusiasts and families! The place is huge, and you can easily spend a whole day exploring all the different areas. The animals seem well cared for, and the habitats are pretty impressive. I loved the panda exhibit—definitely a highlight. It’s a great spot for families or anyone who enjoys seeing wildlife up close. Plus, the surrounding scenery is really beautiful, making it a relaxing day out.Visited March 2024Traveled with familyWritten August 12, 2024

Firstly, location is great as there is an MRT station leading to the zoo and it is adjacent to another great attraction, the Maokong Gondola ride. The zoo is clean and well-maintained with animals not seen in other zoos such as the koala bear, panda bear, tapir, and those distinct to Taiwan. The layout of the zoo is good that is why it appears big.
The entrance fee is very affordable at NT$60 each.

The mass transit system MTR is wonderful! It takes you from center of city to Mucha Zoo, no hassle. Taipei city has App of the entire bus and rail systems so travelers are not wasting time. From the zoo, one can take the cable gondola to Maokong peak. Restaurants and tea houses with views are breathtaking! Lovely day trip!

Taipei zoo is a small but nice zoo in Muzha of Taipei. It has pandas, monkiea, birds of all types, and many other animals. It only costs 60 for adults and 30 for students or elders.
I found it great to see so many different animals in Taipei.

We spent 4 hours there and could have spent longer but had to head out to the lantern festival ( not to be missed).
First of all it is hard to believe that such a well run, clean and huge zoo only charges 50 TWD to enter. The pandas were the hit for everyone but enjoyed the formosan area and the pangolin dome.
Would definitely visit again as did not get to see it all and watching penguins, koalas and all the different bears was worth the trip alone.
We went on a coolish misty day so the weather was good for animals and humans too

Visited solo pre-Covid and enjoyed the day out exploring the huge park. Visited again post-Covid with friends and loved it even more! Great place to explore that could easily take up half a day or more. We took the metro and the entrance was just a stone throw away from the metro station. We took the gondola (paid with easycard which is NTD20 cheaper than buying a ticket) to the top of the park and then the zoo tram (incl in the park entrance which we also paid with our easycard) down to the penguins, then we walked down from there to the zoo main entrance. Lots to explore and with the park being so huge we got tired and skipped a few animals. Love how the animals had so much space (compared to my local zoo) and beautiful enclosures to roam! Must visit parts for me would be the pandas, insectarium and children's zoo! If you are visiting in the hotter months, remember to spray insect repellent, which can also be purchased at the zoo store!

The Zoo is easy to visit by catching a Metro on the Wenfu Line (terminal station). An Easycard is the way to do this and the fare is no more than 50NTD. On arrival you can queue to buy a ticket, but the Easycard allows touching in to walk straight in. The site is vast and there is an internal "train" to take you to the top end of the Zoo (a bit of a climb). It saves some walking. There is seating and picnic spots, but crowds mean there can never be enough. Go early to reduce the impact of crowds. I really liked the insect house and was impressed at some of the exotic animals. It was also good to see Formosan specific creatures and to walk among the birds in the aviaries.

Large zoo that also doubles as a botanical garden-- so many gorgeous plants. We've had the best luck going early in the morning on weekdays. It's almost empty except for school groups which makes it easier for my kiddo to run around as he pleases. Remember to bring a mask for indoor enclosures (eg panda house).

I went to the zoo to see the giant pandas - they were not visible when I first tried to visit. Huge loop, sometimes confusing. I enjoyed the bird park, koalas and red panda the most. When I circled back the pandas were thereabout both asleep.

Best zoo in Asia by far, the range of animals were extraordinary, all of the habitats were large and suitable for the animals. Great conservation program and the layout was easy to navigate without back tracking and missing any animals.
Water stations and washrooms all throughout the zoo, which was much needed on a hot day. Plenty of restaurants and cuisines to choice from, we spent 5 hours there and felt like it wasn't enough, all for the price of $60 NTD

yes. there are ticketing booths just outside the zoo
Written January 27, 2020
We heard that the pandas are closed on Mondays. Is that true?
Written August 11, 2019
Yes, the Giant Panda House is closed during every first Monday of the month.
Just a reminder too, get a panda-visiting ticket at the zoo entrance before you actually head to the place. It is free, it simply indicates the visiting time so the crowd inside the building can be manageable.
Written November 3, 2019
Not sure, but you can always check on their website which is very updated
Written January 1, 2019
We actually visited on a Tuesday and all animal exhibits were opened. Taipei zoo’s indoor exhibits are closed on Monday by turns so please check their schedule before visiting. The penguin house is closed every second Monday of the month as per their published schedule.

Hello! May I ask what the entrance rates per person are for the taipei zoo?
Also, is there a separate charge to watch the pandas?
Written August 26, 2018
TWD$65 per head
No extra charge for Pandas
Written September 14, 2018
I really haven't a clue. You should contact the zoo!
Written July 20, 2018
hi, do we need to take cable car in gondola before we reach taipei zoo? we dont want to take cable car but we want to go to taipei zoo.
Written April 22, 2018
If you don't want to take the gondola, you may go straight to the ticketing booth of the Taipei Zoo. And ride a train going to the top station and walk from their. Hope this helps.
