    Dynamic and full of life
For me the best area of the city in terms of evening life. There are many shops, restaurants and souvenir stands. Also an excellent area for sleeping, so in just 10 minutes you can reach the central station on foot, and with one change on the metro you are halfway to every other destination in the city. Seen in February with the New Year's Eve illuminations it was great! There was an area with lanterns and then many installations along the main street.

    Shopping area for young people
Ximending is a must see in Taipei. There are numerous stores, restaurants and cafe. General price is reasonable to slightly higher as it is also a tourist attraction. There are so many things to see, eat and indulge.

    XIMENDING NIGHT LIFE
The vibe is really good at ximending Those who come from Taiwan really recommend staying here There are lots of warm choices to eat Suggestion = choose a hotel that is close to the MRT, don't take the bus too far to access the hotel to the MRT

    Convenient...
Our first three nights in Taipei we stayed in this area and it is certainly a very crowded area in the evening with clubs, street food, shops etc. It is a strategic area because from here you can reach some attractions on foot, with the metro you can quickly reach the Main Station and then move to other cities or areas of the city. I recommend it as an area to stay.

    Visited it several times!
My hotel being located in Ximending, I visited it several times when I was in Taipei. It has shops, restaurants, stores selling souvenirs made in Taiwan, etc. Located near it is the Ximending Metro Station ( Green Line). In the evening, they have the Night Market for cheap local cuisines here. More crowd here in the evening than during the day.

    Walking and “shopping”
Xinyi has the luxury brands and Ximending has the non luxury ones. You see Nike, Uniqlo etc. here, many local brands, and not-great restaurants. In fact, the food options here are very limited and bad 5/10

Choose the Small Restaurants with Long Lines
When you go to the bustling pedestrian streets in the evening to eat, do something that might seem illogical at first: choose one of the small restaurants with a line in front. The locals know where the best and freshest food is served, and they don’t mind waiting in line to eat well and affordably. Don't worry, even if the line seems long, you’ll get in quickly. People don’t linger over their meals - there’s a fast turnover. We found a restaurant that served the popular oyster pancakes - there were at least 20 people in line, but we got in within about 15 minutes. We were the only foreigners. Many Taiwanese gave us thumbs up for the good choice. And yes, oyster pancakes are definitely worth trying (even if it might not become a daily dish for the rest of your life). Our other noodle and rice dishes with minced meat, bean sprouts, mushrooms, eggs, and other delicious ingredients were absolutely excellent. And pleasantly cheaper. After 15-20 minutes, we had finished eating and made room for the next people in the still long line outside the restaurant.

True friendly and personal property, amazing experience
My family and I always vacation in Hong Kong and we have always found Hong Kong's 5-star hotels to be professional but lacks personality and person touch. I think we found our one awesome hotel in Hong Kong that truly makes you feel like coming home. It all started with a visit to the 22nd F lounge for our check-in. Immediately the staffs mobilize to make us feel welcome. Helping us to settle and offering drinks and cookies to us and our children. Guchi was the person that checked us in and this time we booked 3 rooms as we have a big family. She was doing her best to make sure we are together and even though our flight came in way earlier than I've anticipated, she was able to get us 3 rooms in an acceptable amount of time. Guchi is also friendly and helpful from the time we walked in and when we get our room keys. She's very attentive to our needs while we waited for the room in the lounge. Excellent service. Then it was Cassie who personally escorted us to our room, and even helped carry our luggage which is unexpected but appreciated. She also shown us the hospitality of the room, and it was the room with the great harbor view. Another jewel from the lounge staff. But let's not forget the other lounge staffs that are extremely friendly and helpful as well. Even though I haven't got a chance to get their names, but they are just as helpful and courteous whenever we've visited the lounge. I have been hotel hopping in Hong Kong because I never found one that feels "quite right", but I think our family has now. This hotel's friendliness makes it a joy. And not to mention it's right embedded with a mall and outside is buzzing with cultural activities such as local cuisine, shops, etc. Also right outside of a subway station should you preferred, and now they have free bus to other shopping centers in the area. All in all, great stay!

    Family Tour at Ximending
It was last October 29 to Nov. 4, 2023 when we visited Taiwan and stayed at Ximending district. It was the first time we traveled with other family members composed of my own family, my Mom, sister, brother and his partner, my Aunt and my niece. We spend our days shopping and dining at different shops and restaurants in the area. We even tried street foods and hawker centers to try local foods. What I liked about Taiwan is the weather and the food.

International adapters for charging handphone. Bring your own chilli sauce or chilli padi as you can hardly find one even in fast food restaurant. Book hotel that provides breakfast as the only breakfast you could find in Ximending is soy milk, chinese roti prata and mantou - no toast and coffee. Shops open late.

Ximending is a MUST SEE for anyone visiting Taipei. The epicenter of culture, shopping, evening market food and street shows. Ximending is a great place to dive into the feeling of what Taiwan is all about. Energetic, vibrant and ready for you to jump in and experience it all.

If you want to shop, there are lots of places to get what you want. Clothes, bags, souvenirs and various other goods. Some delicious food here from street food to nice indoor restaurants. This is a great place for solo travelers, group travelers and families alike.

It is a very busy location especially on the weekends so be prepared for crowds. There are usually street performers either dancing or perfomring some other street type performance.

Definitely check this place out on your trip to Taipei, Taiwan!

This was where we started and ended our day tour to Yehliu, Jiufen and Shifen. After our day trip, we returned here at night and had time to walk around Ximending. This is a trendy place, popular with the younger set and is more happening at night, full of people and life. There are many cafes, shops, colorful lights around. Being seniors, we just did window shopping and checked out the area. Too fast pace for us.

Ximending is a fun, trendy, entertainment, food, drink, shopping district in Taipei. It is easy to get to as it is at Ximen metro stop.

Souvenir shops abound, bubble tea shops are everywhere (Taiwan invented bubble tea), coffee (I counted 3 Starbucks) & tea, juice, drink shops, clothing, footwear, toy stores, toy vending machines, souvenir food shops, movie theatres, little restaurants, bigger restaurants on second or third levels were all there. There are very few foreign businesses but Nike, H&M, New Balance were there and many grouped next to each other.

There was a 300 year old temple in the midst of all this plus an octagonal red brick building from 1908 built by a Japanese architect, called The Red House. It is a cultural building housing a coffee shop, creative handicrafts and gifts in an extended building. There is a theatre on upper levels for performances such as an upcoming violin performance.

Although mostly pedestrian, taxis, cars, scooters, motorcycles did enter down these streets so you have to be careful not getting hit by them.

Ximending (:West Gate in English) is the Kingdom of Youth. It is full of juice bars and small restaurants, and small shops selling cheap clothing. It comes alive at night, when young people come out to play. There's nothing preventing older people from visiting Ximending, but it's made for young people.

Ximending is the Kingdom of the Kids. It's a fun place to meet for teenagers. There are lots of pop-up shops and good places to eat. Ximending starts warming up in the afternoon. Ximending is easily accessible by the Taipei MRT. The Ximemding MRT Station is on the MRT Blue line, it's always busy, day and night.

Ximen has a lot of shopping stores, if you are a person love shopping, you will love it. In there, you can find some delicious food including the latest dessert and traditional taiwaness food. Also, you can buy some souvenir here. The ximen red hous also have some stores, the store there is about traditional and artical things. You can find some historical atmosphere in the ximen red house. Sometimes, you can find some street perfomers in Ximen. I have seen some performaces playing bells, and many people stay around them. It's a lively place.

Trendy location with shopping that caters to budgets high and low. You will find international brands as well as local and run-of-the-mill brands. Streets laden with food vendors that sell finger food , snacks and bubble tea.

Street performances take place in the weekends. Plenty of restaurant options. Expect huge crowd turn out in the weekends.

Most retailers starts operating from 11am or later.

XMD is a must visit place when you are in Taipei. The whole areas are filled with tourists and locals especially at night. Lots of restaurants, food kiosks, souvenirs shops etc. Many buskers will also be out performing in the street at night. Best to visit during evening time to bask in the atmosphere. The famous Ah Chung mianxian is also situated there. You won't miss it because of the endless queue.

After having visited Harajuku, Hong Kong and other similar areas, this has been the best one. Ximending has the nostalgic look of Hong Kong plus the stores one can find in Harajuku or Shinjuku in Japan.

There are several cafés, eateries and fast food joints in the area; plus, shopping options are varied and most shops offer tax free shopping.

The area is safe at night, and the locals are extremely helpful and patient, even when you don't even buy anything from their shops.
