Bell is remnant of Buddhist temple
Aug 2021
Open space is rare in densely-populated Wanhua, which is what makes Nishi Honganji Square interesting.. It has well-groomed lawn, and a Buddhist bell. This was once the site of a Japanese Buddhist temple, which burned down. The bell was recast, and here it is now,

Piece of history in modest park
Jan 2019 • Friends
Nishi Honganji Square dates from the Japanese colonial period, from 1895 - 1945. The park once hosted a Buddhist temple, which burned down. The temple bell was recast; it is still on site. The park is a modest, though welcome, area of public space in Wanhua, which is a densely populated area of Taipei.

Japanese temple
Jan 2019 • Friends
This is the site where Nishi Honganji, a Japanese temple, once stood. The temple was burned in 1970, and now there is only a bell tower. It is a very pleasant small park.

Nice small park
Mar 2018 • Friends
This nice small park luckily has young cherry trees which are still in bloom when I got to visit. The bell tower is reminiscent of the one in Kyoto.

A historical Japanese Style of Buddhism Temples
Oct 2016 • Friends
As a Buddhist, this is a must go place to experiencetge traditional temple built 100 years ago in Japanese Style. It still keep the original outlook and the buildings of the period. And there are a Memorial exhibition which opens to all.
