The enchanting Tamsui Old Street boasts the most beautiful Fisherman’s Wharf sunset of Taiwan. There are also well-complimented delectable snacks such as Ah Gei (bean curd) and fish ball, etc. On Bali left bank, there is the Ferry Old Street and Wazihwei Nature Reserve. It is relaxing and comfortable whether by strolling or cruising through on a bike. Besides the bustling business district, Tamsui is also full of an old vintage flavor. From western architectural relics to residences dating back to Japanese rule, each with their respective features and great stories to tell. If you visit Tamsui in spring, the magnificent cherry blossoms of Tianyuan Palace are a must see. If you wish for further intimacy with nature, why not camp out for the night under the starry sky. The Bali culture park camping site offers round, transparent bubble tents. Experience the close, seamless connection to surrounding nature from within for an unforgettable memory.

This is a red line station right at the end north direction. A hot tourist place to visit and local market is good to shop . Local wet market will close by 12pm. Go early.

Design of the station is nice. Location is beautiful. Tamsui MRT station is a metro station in New Taipei. It is the terminal station of the Tamsui–Xinyi Line(Red Line). This is the northernmost metro/railway station in Taiwan. It is a two-level elevated station with an island platform and two exits. Restrooms are available. This station is heavily used by the people mainly coming to visit the sea-side district of Tamsui. Tamsui Golden Anchor is next to the station, which is very nice place to walk around and watch the sunrise/sunset.

I just want to write a short note to suggest that if you're heading for Tamsui (Danshui and whatever other variant spellings there may be), I think the simplest way is to just get onto the red line going north and just take that the whole way. It's about 40 NT, en route check out the good views to the east of the various hills, and this way you don't have to go looking for this or that bus.
Once there, some travelers have recommended renting a bike (see the sheds just in front of the station), but we (my wife and I) suggest you just walk around; down the waterfront lane, and then along the "old street" one lane inland. Also, get a map from the tiny "tourist information" booth just next to the small (really small) beach at the northern end of the shorefront lane.
Enjoy!

As you walk out of the station you will be on the river and at the beginning at the boardwalk that runs about a mile along that river. A great place to enjoy a day out.

Trains run frequently and provide excellent access to the foreshore and Tamsui Old Street for eats and shopping. This is a very popular area, especially on Sundays, so it can be crowded and the station can suffer from queues.

This is the last stop of MRT red line. Your visit to Tamsui starts here. The station itself is not something special, but in a square nearby there is an old locomotive, which recalls the past.

This is the last station on the MRT red line. It is a very busy station, especially on the weekend. There is a good tourist information center here which provides good maps and brochures of Tamsui. Ticket counters, both self-service and human-served are available. Although there are countless food options in Tamsui, at the train station there are several eating options as well including a convenience store.
