This is a small place you can go for buying fish and taking photos. One hour is enough if there is not so crowed. You can buy some fish as this is a fishing harbor, ans some street foods to eat. You can also take some photos with seaside and rock. It is beautiful.

Fenniaolin, East side of Su'ao, Taiwan (Dong Ao)
Been here about three times. This time I was led by friend and her childhood memories to Fenniaolin. You really cannot tell there is a hidden cove. Once you reach the little harbor there, climb up the levy in order to see the totally different view on the other side. My friend said it was the "territory" of the plainsmen. They usually walked down from the hills to here during the summer break. There seemed to be a invisible border between plainsmen and aborigines. The border is probably the old Su-Hua Highway. Towards the hills there are more aborigines. The opposite is for plainsmen. The two don't seem to like to deal with each other.
Following the exposure on the Internet, tourists "invaded" this area. The pebble beach on the left of the levy is with many people there fishing with their camping vans and SUVs. On the right side, tourists who enjoy water sports. "Tourists only bring damages to the land, but my cousins and aunties all rely on them for living." said my friend with a bit bitterness.
The situation is worse over Jinyue Waterfalls. Many tourists barbecue food there. Some dressed up for upstream trekking. "We native Taiwanese people never need all that equipment and outfits. We can climb rocks with our sandals." said the cousin of my friend. The owner of the land around the entrance also turned the land into parking lots to collect parking fees at NTD100 per time. He also leads tourists to go upstream trekking.
Tourists have indeed brought fortune to the locals. However, the native Taiwanese have also faded out from the picture of the beautiful cove and waterfalls.

Beautiful place with a lovely view of the ocean. Not much in the way of restaurants though, so pack a lunch. The water is really beautiful but unsafe for swimming. Great view on the drive too.

Water is clear and not so many people, good for taking photos and you may buy some snacks next to it. The rocks there are black and grey colours, so special but it is just a small coast. Don’t expect too much.

It was raining heavily on our way to Fenniaolin (from Hualien). The rain finally stopped about 10 mins away from it (we almost gave up). Once we arrived, just a normal fish harbor. However, I spot a stairway going up at the end, so I went up there. Wow, what a fantastic, marvelous beach in front of me. It’s a small beach with some natural rocks forming a “bay”. We spent a lot of time taking many beautiful photos with this amazing, gorgeous view. We are so glad that we came here for this hidden gem. We then went to the restaurant ‘Ah Mian Yi” by the harbor to have a wonderful seafood feast (with very reasonable price”

Avoid this place on a weekend as the locals love to come here on weekends. And put on your walking shoes if you really want to explore the place as you will need to climb over huge rocks and walk on pebbled beach. Bring a towel to dry your feet if you want to go into the waters for some photos with the rocks.

The beach is renown as it is used in scenes of romantic dramas. You need to drive or get a cab to reach it. The sleepy fishing harbor has a very small restaurant where the food was cheap and taste so fresh.

However small the Fenniaolin Fish Harbor is, the nearby beach makes it quietly attractive and, therefore, worth a visit.
To arrive at the Fenniaolin Fish Harbor, we took #1570 of Capital Bus from Taipei City Hall to Luodong (NT$120, about 1 hour) and transferred to Dongao by Local Express of the Taiwan Railway Administration (NT$31, about 17 minutes). Then we took Highway 9 north on foot and made a right to Dongao Road. From there it was an approximately three-kilometer walk along the shoreline. Picturesque as the scenery was, the walk was almost unbearably long, not to mention the fact that a car after another went fast by and left a cloud of dust and sand.
When we arrived, there were people fishing around the harbor. In addition, there were adventurous tourists (including us) who managed through the gigantic Tetrapod blocks and made it to the rocky beach. The scenery out there was unexpectedly stunning, despite the cloudy weather and the poor visibility.
Since the Fenniaolin Fish Harbor is located in a fairly remote area, transportation is not readily available. You might as well drive unless you can tolerate the long walk from the train station.

In the early days of Fenniaolin Fishing Port, many wild pigeons lived in the port. Because pigeons in Taiwanese are called "pinniao", Fenniaolin Fishing Port got its name. Although the Fenniaolin Fishing Port is not large, the Dong'ao Bay in front of the fishing port is a soft beach, with green mountains and blue water, making it a must-visit for tourists on the east coast. I didn't come to Hualien a few months ago due to lack of time. This time I came to Hualien to explore the secret place. Unfortunately, the sky was covered with dark clouds. Next time I will find a sunny day and a low tide time to take pictures, which will be more beautiful. There is a paid parking lot next to the fishing port, which is easy to park.

Fenliniao Fishing Port is located at the southernmost end of Dong'ao Bay. In the early days, many wild pigeons lived here. In Taiwanese Hokkien, "pigeon" is called "pinniao", so it got its name. Although Fenniaolin Fishing Port is a secluded small fishing port, the sea water in the port is blue and the coastal rocks are lined up. Not only the scenery is charming, but also contains a variety of fish, especially tofu sharks, groupers, black hairs, and white hairs are the most abundant. Many Anglers like to fish here very much, and it is a well-known rock fishing paradise.
