About
Baimi Wooden Clog Village, previously known as White Rice Urn, was named after its local production of rocks shaped like rice grains. Influenced by the Japanese during the Japanese Occupation, Baimi Village began producing and became a main provider of wooden clogs using wood from local Jiangmo trees. At that time, villagers would wear the wooden clogs, and produce a "kyat kyat" sound as they walk.

Yi Lan in general has very little english in its culture, media, and presentation. I stopped by accident in the Baimi Clog Village and decided to grab a Latte at the coffee shop. Met this lady who didn't speak English and could not take my order, so she quickly Called Peggy Lin , who works on the Museum bring up and concept. She spoke perfect English and we had over a 1 hour conversation where she explained the history of Baimi and hopefully the resurrection of the museum to reflect its Rich history. It was one of the most memorable cups of coffee and conversation.
