This street food night market straggles for several blocks along Zhongxiao Road, which is not closed to traffic. As the stalls front on to the road you are forced to walk uncomfortably close to the traffic. There is a good selection of different foods available and prices are cheap. Spread out night market along Zhongxiao Road, running both sides of it (watch out for errant mopeds) - lots of cuisine types available including local, Japanese and even a pizza stall. Most stalls are quite small so there are considerable queues for the really popular ones.

This night market was about 10mins walk away from our hotel, and we decided to try it out for dinner. After experiencing 逢甲夜市, you will definitely feel that this market is smaller and has a limited selected of foods available. Nevertheless it is delicious, I especially love the roasted corn! One thing to note that as it is catered for locals, you will see many Taiwanese scooting away once their food is prepared so one has to be aware of the traffic!…

This really is more of a street market and it is not cordoned off so less comfortable. It is also much further than the map suggests from the train station. It’s about 5 stops away from the train station and you need to have energy if doing this night market with kids after a heavy afternoon. Following consideration this night market could be missed and Yizhong street market offers more choice and variety along with safer environment for kids. We took bus 33 from Gong guan road which is the other end of the market after walking from Taichung road. Don’t forget rides less than 10km are free but use an easy card! I’d not come here again…
