Next to the National Palace Museum, the garden was established in 1985. It is a park imitating the gardens and pavilions of the Song Dynasty (宋朝).
The flowers, plants, trees, ponds and pavilions in the garden are well maintained and taken care of. What a stunning scenery.
Covering an area of 18,000 square meters. It takes about half to one hour to stroll in the park. Stop by if you have time after your visit the National Palace Museum.

I visited in conjunction with a visit to the National Palace Museum. It was quite nice but not worth going out of your way for.

The garden is located on a side trail as you come down the main steps from the National Palace Museum. It's a quiet and gorgeous Chinese garden with lots of birds and koi fish. We bought a box of koi feed from the vending machine for NT$10 and spent awhile just sitting there, feeding the fish.

This is a beautiful small garden, located just next to the National Palace museum.
The garden features several ponds with swans and ducks, a beautiful local architecture and lovely paths for an easy walk through it.
Very few tourists ever get here, which is refreshing, as the garden is never crowded.
Give yourself at least 30 minutes for a slow stroll through the garden.
Entrance is 20 TWD (just over 50 US cents).
Highly recommended.

We had just finished walking around after being pushed and shoved by tourists in the National Palace Museum and were about to get into a taxi and I noticed a garden on the side. I inquired and found out it was the Zhishan Garden and admission was free because we had bought tickets to the National Palace Museum. The garden was a perfect spot to visit after being in a mad crowded house. The gardens are quite beautiful and serene and worth a good 30 minutes of relaxing time with a coffee or tea from the Museum Café.

From the throngs of tourists that arrive daily to visit the National Palace Museum, it would appear that only a few people get to visit Zhishan Garden. This is both a boon and a pity at the same time - a boon that your peace and quiet is not disturbed but a pity that so few people know about Zhishan Garden despite the fact that it is actually part of the museum grounds.
For a small fee of NT20 (or free if you show your museum entrance ticket), you can enter a small oasis of calm. The garden itself is small enough that you could probably speed walk through it in say 10 minutes from end to end, but that's not really the point of visiting. Take your time to feel the peace and quiet. Hang out in any one of the pavilions or seating areas that dot the garden. Feed the enormously fat koi for just NT10 and say hi to the pair of black swans that live there.
I spent the better part of an hour exploring the garden, enjoying the breeze down by the ponds and taking in an early sunset before braving the tourist crowds back at the museum.

I walked over to the Zhishan Garden once I was done wandering around the National Palace Museum. There is a small entrance fee I believe of 20 or 30 TWD (around $1.28 Canadian). The garden is a rather small venue but very beautiful and relaxing. You will see numerous fish in the ponds and some birds wandering around. I really enjoyed this place. There were not many people here at all when I went so it is a nice a quiet venue. I highly recommend to come and take some lovely pictures of the nature.

This is a relaxing place to go to, just beside the National Palace Museum. There was a large koi pond there and visitors, especially children enjoyed feeding them.

When you visit National Park Museum don't miss this nearby Park. It's included in the ticket of the museum and is really relaxing and beautiful.

Tucked on the right side of the National Palace Museum , this garden is a welcome addition to the Museum complex. While some would probably dismiss the place as just another Chinese Garden , one would miss the beautiful layout of the garden complimenting the topography of the area. For a small fee , bring coins, NTW20, they dont have change, one can have a calm afternoon after visiting the Palace museum.
