CHEAPER to buy your fresh SHRIMPS from the Fish Market but FUN to catch your own
Feb 2020
One hour rod rental passes very quickly. I just caught 2 but my daughter in law caught 5. There is a knack. Hooking the tiny shrimp bait is a testing skill. Then you need to find the spot where the shrimps congregate (near sheltered sides away from the light?). Most importantly, you need to know when to withdraw your rod from the water when you get a bite..You can BBQ your catch in nearby ovens or order them in nice dishes cooked by the farm' s chef. Fun to spend a few hundred NTD but much cheaper to buy fresh from the market. Can be frustrating if you catch zilch.

Shrimp fishing is a Taiwan tradition !!!
Nov 2015 • Family
If you come to Taiwan, you have to try shrimp fishing atleast once ! People do this with families and friends. Sit there with a fishing pole and catch large prawns (typically about 6-8 inches). After a few hours of shrimping, you salt them and put them on the BBQ !!!
They are pretty good.

My kids (5 and 7) love to go there...Fishing is a good way to calm the kids down and just relax.

Great trip with a bunch of friends

Excellent fun, we spent about 3 hours fishing and caught about 50 of these huge shrimps, each about 8" long.
They give you a net, a rod and some bait. Watch how the locals do it and soon enough you will have your first shrimp. It is under cover, so no problem if it is raining. Shrimps tasted great, they helped prepare and cook them, and we added a few extra dishes from the menu. All washed down with Taiwan Beer. They also have fishing for Sturgeon in another pond.

Other reviews have stated it smells in the place, we did not notice this, but we were a bunch of hardy europeans.

A great team fun event, would definitely go again.

There are many of these places but the map points to a specific one.

Since there are multiple locations/businesses, reports of "bad smells", "disgusting bathrooms", whatever need to be taken with a grain of salt because they will vary.

The overall experience is very interesting. You catch your own shrimp, cook them and eat them. Most places will have additional food for purchase.

It is a lot of fun to see a shrimp fly through the air when someone catches one. The technique differs from fishing in that a fish swallows the bait / hook but the shrimp has hands to grab the bait with. You need to tease the shrimp before making your move and ripping the shrimp out of the water.

Overall a fun and interesting experience.

Super fun group experience!
Jan 2016
So I was lucky enough to remember about shrimp fishing from when I was a young kid and I had a severe thirst to repeat the experience. Luckily, I was at a hostel and managed to recruit one other person to come with me to this shrimp fishery. It is a pricey (1 rod for 1 hour @ 350NT, 2hours @ 600NT, etc.) and usually people just share rods. But it's absolutely worth it. You'd think it's boring, sitting there and waiting for a bite, but we had a frequency of about 1 bite/9minutes! It was actually pretty hypnotizing, looking at the little floater bobbing in the water.

Afterwards, we moved our shrimp to the grill and began the process of spearing them, salting them, and watch them slowly roast and char on the grill. Believe me when I say the shrimp were some of the best I've ever had; just so juicy and fresh!

So I recommend this place for small groups just willing to hang out, drink taiwanese beer, and eat some awesome shrimp.

10/10 would fish again.

Intersting to try maybe...but I wouldn't eat them!

Yeah its a cheesy thing but can be fun at night when locals gather to mainly drink beer and have fun. Shrimp fishing is often a second thought. And, they are not easy to catch. One look at the water...and smell...and you may not want to eat them anyways...I've been to a couple of these including this one and the water just is not appealing and I have seen more than one person spit in the tanks lol...

A good "different" thing to do for tourists, and good food and with lots of beer for locals.

Gone several times. Be warned, it can get boring sitting there with a fishing stick waiting for an hour to catch a few prawns. The bright overhead lights are no help either when its 9:30pm and you're drinking Taiwan beers. But the food is good, even if the prawns are "dirty" and its something different for the average tourist, and a good place for a large group of local friends.

I doubt you'll have fun
Jul 2015
You're going to sit there for an hour or two and more than likely catch very few shrimp. And that's not just sour grapes - the most I saw from a pair of Taiwanese dudes was 12 in two hours. So best case scenario you might catch 6 shrimp in two hours. And you gotta pay for a taxi to get there and back, not only is it quite boring but ends up kinda pricey as well. Don't do it.

Quite an experience...

And therefore, totally recommended! Be prepared to communicate by signs unless you can find someone visiting who speaks mandarin. After getting all set, sit around and see how the experienced locals get a shrimp every 5 minutes while you don't get anything... Well, I got three in one hour, but my friend didn't catch any (even a local came to help him hehehe). I can't remember the price, but it was not really cheap, but I guess that depends on your fishing skills of course. Again, If you are lucky enough, you can barbecue your shrimps just by there afterwards. They also sell food in case you didn't manage... and drinks. It is quite a social event: we met some Japanese lads that share part of their catch and we cheer up together! Memorable evening finally!
