Yuan Mountain Hiking Trail
The area
Neighborhood: Sanxia / Yingge District
Yingge, with a 200-year history in pottery, is one of the earliest settlements of Taiwan, thus earning the reputation of “Taiwan’s Jingdezhen”. Constructed with exposed concrete and steel structures, the Yingge Ceramics Museum is a landmark presenting rustic beauty. Walk into Yingge Old Street and feel the pieces of brick and tiles lightly emitting a historical and cultural atmosphere. Stroke the potteries to sympathize with the hundred-year-old artistic essence by aged masters. Reputed as the hall of eastern art, “Sanxia Zushi (Divine Ancestor) Temple is a temple built with an ancient technique. The groups of bygone architectures and baroque-style plaques of Sanxia Old Street still retain their former self. Once known as Sanjiaoyong street, Minquan street used to be the gathering grounds of the once-prosperous cloth dying industry. The Sanxia Dye Workshop was established to keep the blue-dye culture from disappearing. Visit this little village of art to delicately experience local humanities and scenic nature.Visit a small town rich with arts and experience local cultural features and natural landscapes in detail!

A great hiking trail!

It's not far from Sanxia Old Street. You can get a taxi up to the Ceremonial bell tower, which is the start of the trail. (it'd be about 200 dollars, though I've never done it.)

There are seating stops along the trail, and the views are gorgeous on many of the peaks.
