Neighborhood: Sanxia / Yingge District
Yingge, with a 200-year history in pottery, is one of the earliest settlements of Taiwan, thus earning the reputation of “Taiwan’s Jingdezhen”. Constructed with exposed concrete and steel structures, the Yingge Ceramics Museum is a landmark presenting rustic beauty. Walk into Yingge Old Street and feel the pieces of brick and tiles lightly emitting a historical and cultural atmosphere. Stroke the potteries to sympathize with the hundred-year-old artistic essence by aged masters. Reputed as the hall of eastern art, “Sanxia Zushi (Divine Ancestor) Temple is a temple built with an ancient technique. The groups of bygone architectures and baroque-style plaques of Sanxia Old Street still retain their former self. Once known as Sanjiaoyong street, Minquan street used to be the gathering grounds of the once-prosperous cloth dying industry. The Sanxia Dye Workshop was established to keep the blue-dye culture from disappearing. San Zhi Fu Cheng Temple is a small temple, which is located in front of Sanxia police station at the entrance of Old Street. There is nothing special with this temple.
