I visited there many years ago. This time I visited with my friend and my sister. Still the collections inside are marvelous; in addition, the cheerful environment outside was enjoyable too!

We didn't give ourselves enough time. Regretful. We were there at 1pm, and we only managed to get through the main hall of animal kingdom with hundreds of taxidermied animals from Africa to Australia. We sadly missed the birds, Rodin and European paintings as we...More

Beautiful museum with an incredible and diverse exhibit spanning across rooms of statues, taxidermy animals, paintings, weapons, and instruments. The garden outside also allows for great walks (for free!). No photos allowed inside, which is both a shame and a good thing because it prevented...More

This has to be among the best museums one can find in East Asia. The museum grounds is clean and well organized. The collection of artefacts is impressive, and the building architecture is incredible - this is an attraction not to be missed in Tainan.

I went there on 23rd Dec’18 when they have Xmas celebration. It was very massive glamorous museum, exceptional cleanliness, first grade security yet friendly officers/staffs, sophisticated interior setting, amazing artifacts were kept as it’s originally found. It’s worth going and easy to find by public...More

A pleasant surprise with quite a lot to see for young children. The animals displays are great where children learnt a lot about different animals from different continents!

Anping District/ Annan District
Anping District is the area first developed in Taiwan.
It is also the key to Taiwan’s involvement in the
international community. The two famous historic
monuments, Anping Fort (a.k.a. Fort Zeelandia) and
Eternal Golden Castle leave behind them the traces of
international trade made by various countries. Another
historic monument that stands the test of time is Tree
House, in which beautiful stories were created along

If you take H31 shuttle bus (from city center) to the direction of HSR Tainan station, you can not get off in every stop but only the HSR station. You could check out HSR's website. There are other buses in the city center... More

Kaohsiung to Tainan (Sunday Day Trip) (4 Replies)
Hello! I'm planning my itinerary for Taiwan and on one of those days (Sunday), would like to travel up to Tainan from Kaohsiung for a day trip and visit the following places: Ten Drum Cultural Village Chimei Museum (Not going inside the museum) Anping District Chiktan Tower My main questions are: 1) Is the High speed rail or Railway a better option? I also want to leave my luggage there for the day. 2) I'm also planning on going to Taichung after visiting Tainan, should I...More

It's a total waste of time doing HSR for Kaohsiung to Tainan, especially given the HSR is nowhere near the centre of Tainan and even the slowest trains down the journey in an hour. Tze Chiang trains do it in half an hour. There are usually 4 trains an hour between the two cities. For the Ten Drum Culture Village/Chimei Museum, get off at Bao'an station (the last stop before Tainan). There are 3/4 trains an hour from Bao-an to Tainan, taking 7 minutes. For Tainan to Taichung, it's an...More
Chimei Museum - Any lockers for storage of luggage? (2 Replies)
Hi, I will be traveling to Tainan next week. Is taking the complimentary THSR Shuttle bus from Tainan THSR station to my hotel in the city. I am considering stopping at Chimei Museum for 2 - 3 hours as the shuttle map seems to suggest that there is a stop at Chimei Museum. Any idea if the museum has large lockers for tourists to store their luggage? I could not find any info on lockers in the Chimei Museum website. Appreciate your replies. Thanks!
