Must take a boat to get to, but well worth it

The heart shaped weir is a structure for pre-historic people to catch fish. One the plane trip into Makung, look out the window and you will see many submerged weirs. This weir is special because it is twin hearts.

You have to ake a boat to Cimei to see this. It is an all day boat ride+tour that goes to 4 different island. The ride can be long and bumpy and barfy (nausea causing).

If you have time, walk down to the weir. I did not know I can walk down until it was time to go.

Deep Taiwan tour.

No English is available here, but fun to talk with Taiwanese tourists.
It cost about 30USD per person for 1 day island tour.
The island is located 50 minutes away from Taipei by the air.
Have fun !
七美島のツアーです。1人1200NTで2島をクルーズ船で回ります。
日本語も英語もほとんど通じませんが、周りの観光客が親切に片言英語で教えてくれますので、なんとかなります。

When you make it to Qimei this is definitely worth a visit! These stone formations are used by local fishermen to catch fish.

Very nice!

We were there on a tour of the local area. It was a nice view and pretty cool to see. There's a small area there to buy drinks/snacks/souvenirs. But there's not much to do but stop and take a picture.

We went early afternoon, so the water was still high, but still very visible! I'd think if you came later (3pm?) It'd be low tide and you can see the hearts a bit better.

Beautiful

While this is not a long stop it is beautiful and you can enjoy some cactus ice cream from the vendors near the parking lot. Make sure you beat the tour buses there so it's not too crowded. A must see!

Twin Hearts

A fairly famous and iconic landmark/viewpoint for Taiwanese, situated on Qimei island, I happened to see two sets of couples getting holiday snaps for their wedding albums.

Probably not worth more than 20 minutes of your time though and certainly not worth traveling to see only this. This is essentially only a photo opportunity so take a snap, maybe get something to eat from the friendly vendors and that's all there is to it.

Something to see during low tide

I'm not sure how you can get down and walk on the Twin-Hearts path, but we had a bird's eye view from a nice cliff.

Yes. It's a tourist trap. There's a lot of vendors selling different goods ranging from fans to ice cream to toys. Their cactus ice cream was... different. more of a italian ice than ice cream.

It is beautiful on a nice, sunny day. But only then, and it's a classic tourist "trap". It was built for tourists to come and see, so I wouldn't bother to come all the way to Qimei/Chimei island just for this. The real traditional fish weirs are mostly located around the northern island of Jibei -- which is a lot easier (and cheaper) to get to. There are dozens of them in various shapes and sizes to see around that island. And Jibei also has the magnificent sand bar and numerous beaches to enjoy. But if you combine the Twin-hearts stone weir with some other sites in Qimei, it could be worth the visit.

One of the reason for visiting Penghu - to see this twin-hearts stone weir (雙心石滬) at Qimei island! It was great to see this in person. The blue sky, waters and the heart shapes makes a beautiful picture! Must include this when visiting Penghu.
