Not a tourist attraction
Feb 2021
I wouldn't consider this place a tourist attraction. Stalls almost exclusively sell dried seafood, and that's it.

Indoor Market
Jul 2019
This indoor market is just across the street from the Qijin Beach. It was good to come inside for a bit of shade but we did not buy anything. We did walk through the stalls but did not find anything interesting enough for us to take home. It was clean though, a good sign of local markets.

Just go into the first store, get whatever you need and it's over
Apr 2017 • Solo
All the stores inside sell similar items-dried seafood products, prices are the same as well, don't bother going to each of the stores and see it. If you really need to buy something, simply enter into the first store you see, then it's done.

Good place for tourist
Aug 2016 • Family
Cijin is a good place for tourist. Qihou Market is famous place Cijin. There are many activity can do at Qihou Market. It is very big. There are many stall sit on both sides of the road. Sea Food is the popular in Qihou, especially the sea food , the sea food is very cheap and fresh. After the lunch or dinner, may be you will have a rest. Qihou Market have a beach, it is a good place to relax. You can sit on the sands, talk with your friend, family or partner, it is a enjoyable. Cycling is also a good entertainment, you can ride and look around the Qihou market, and to the viewpoint. The one special viewpoint in Qihou Market is a lighthouse, you can appreciate the panoramic views on lighthouse. I suggest ride bicycle or motorcycle, because it will spend more time if you walk. But you must be careful on the motorcycles, there are many motorcycles on the road, and it may dangerous.

海邊的小市場
Dec 2015 • Couples
It wasn't my target place to visit, but it is just next to the main road, so we went in and have a look.
It is not a big market, and all of the shops are selling processed seafood as souvenirs. Even though you are not going to buy, the sellers would not mind to let you try too.

After visiting the market, you can go for the light house or other places, it is so convenient.

Dried fish stuff
Jan 2015 • Friends
Cihou Market is located on Cijin Island and Cijin Island is just 5 minute ferry journey across from Kaohsiung Harbor (Gushan Ferry Station). It costs only NT15 for the short ferry trip. The island shaped like an oblong and I am not sure if it was an island reclaimed from the sea.

We did not take the ferry. Instead our guide drove through the underwater tunnel to the island. We visited Cihou Fort and Cihou lighthouse before our guide brought us to this Qihou Market. It was in the late evening when we arrived here. Our guide asked us if we want to have our seafood dinner at the market but we told him that we preferred to have it at the night market. I think we regretted saying so as we missed the opportunity of trying the fresh seafood here.

The Cihou Market is located a short distance from the Cihou Fort and Lighthouse. The stalls are housed within a metallic dome and neatly arranged with a spacious walkway for customers to walk. The items on sale were mostly dried aquatic stuffs that include salted fishes, oysters, prawns, octopus, etc. We were surprised by the rich diversity of exotic marine dried stuff on display. Despite the `fishy' smell, the place is not filthy.

We took a short walk along the stalls and I took some photos with my group. We did not buy any stuff over here. I also did not see many customers at that hour or any price haggling activities over the counter. I understand that the price is reasonable.

Cijin reminds me of my little island country of Singapore. Just like Cijin, Singapore is surrounded by seas but unlike Cijin, we depends on imports from our neighboring countries for fishes and marine stuffs. I wonder if we should tap on our potential as an island and the easy access to sea to develop our own Fish Industry like Cijin instead of relying on imports.

Singaporeans love seafood. Maybe, one day, we should come over to Cijin and learn how to develop the seafood industry.

Dried seafood heaven
plenty of dried seafood variety ie. Type which complements with beer!! Price is reasonable too. Lots of free tasting too. Located facing the beach. Not sure why this place didn't get any review.
