The area

Neighborhood: Sinhua Area
This is the area crucial for the Siraya culture in Tainan, and also the buffer zone from the plains into the mountains. It houses the first dam, Hutoupi Reservoir, in Taiwan. The reservoir with the view entitled “Hutoupi’s Reflecting Moon” is listed as one of the 12 tourist attractions in Taiwan. A complete bikeway and pedestrian paths have appealed to many people for jogging. Sinhua Old Street that has still preserved the baroque style is the busiest shopping district. It covers significant historic buildings such as Japanese Butokuden (hall of martial arts) and the old district office during the Japanese rule and many shops that sell delicacies and so on. For those who crave to shop on the old street, this is the place for you. The Old Tainan Watercourse and purification plant in the mountains are another two historic buildings with unique attributes. The environment surrounding headwaters is well-maintained, so the purification plant that looks like a European castle has been inhabited by thousands of bats, and this is the best place for ecological protection learning. Since Danei is also referred to as the Stars of Heaven, it is equipped with astronomy telescopes with the largest calibre in Taiwan. It also has a panoramic auditorium theatre as well as an experience showroom, which enables astronomy learning and entertainment into one. Want to experience what it feels like to be an astronaut? After 4 days in Taiwan, this was the only place we were welcomed by most beautiful and lovely LAN Hua / orchids at the lobby of the main block in the farm. Very friendly and down to earth guide welcomed us and gave a good explanation about this farm. Attended a show and had thrilling time driving the bump bump boat. We enjoyed pickling fresh mangoes and fun time karaoke, all free in the evening. Hotel room was fine and clean. Sad to say that this farm needs lots of improvements to attract more visitors.

The farm is quite big, and there are many fun activities for kids, such as motor-boat ride, ox ride, and horse-riding show etc. The surrounding is pleasant, with tall trees and a large field, suitable for nature lovers. I recommend to take a day trip, go in the morning and depart in the afternoon. As it is only about 40-minute drive to Tainan city, I suggest to stay at the city rather than at the farm. For the same price, you can stay at a much more comfortable hotel in the city.

Though not popularly listed, Tsou Ma Lai Farm does not look like a farm. Instead it is a
ranch sort of place with a large area for different activities such as archery, boat rowing,
mini train ride, mochi making class and many other activities conducted here.

My family and I joined a trip to Taiwan and this is one of the place where we stayed overnight
on New Year's eve, 31/12/2014 recently. The hotel room we were housed in is very
comfortable and large. In fact, this farm is very new and everything looks spanking
new and nice.

We had dinner on arrival in the evening and were served a meal of fresh organic
vegetables from the farm and freshwater fish which we enjoyed. They serve non
halal food as we also had stewed pig trotters which is equally delicious. After
dinner, we had mochi making class and karaoke while waiting for our new year
countdown.

The next morning we enjoyed a train ride around the farm taking in the beautiful
landscape with natural trees and very clean, well organised valley while we smell
the crisp and cold air (it is winter time).

We managed to have a round of archery and bumper boat fun! We did not
managed to enjoy all the other facilities as our bus leaves for Sun Moon Lake
for our next destination. This is truly a heavenly relaxing and nice place definitely
not to be missed.
