Since I was a kid ,my mom usually takes me to the science museum. There's many kinds of things display, including long-term display and short-term display, some of short-term display may need buy the tickets extra , but you don't need to buy the normal one . Buy the way, if you go there on Wednesday morning and before 10 o'clock, you can get a new ticket !

A very interesting and well designed museum with a variety of exhibits ranging from the sciences & space to natural history to local and international culture... Could easily spend a whole day here and only touch the surface. Our 2yr old loved the dinasaur exhibit as well as the many interactive displays. Will defenitly return again [maybe without the little one ;-) ]

I used to visit this place since I was a small kid, but now when I returned to this place after two years. I found out this place getting nothing to see. This place used to be full of people but this time there were the least of people.
The place was old and all the information on the walls was all dropping or been tearing into pieces, some of the words can't even read it because all were blurred.
And for about a few years, still not a lot of ENGLISH translation, it is really hard to read it and understanding for those who are not in Chinese education. And also only have Mc Donalds in the main building ( it used to have a Chinese food restaurant on the rooftop where we can visit the small zoo) and with the other coffee house in the other building with the 3D movie theatre.
The most thing I was very upset about was the small zoo had close down for renovation and it should be informed at the information counter or at the ticket counter.

This is one of the best museums in Taiwan. There are five exhibition centers: The life science hall, the science center, the global environment hall, the human cultures center and the botanical park. Each center worths a visit for 1-2 hours.
If you have kids accompanied, visit the Life science hall first. The Life science hall is essentially a small scale nature history museum. Every child loves fossils, plants, animals, primitive human and dinosaurs.
If you are a foreign visitor. I personally recommend to visit the human cultures center first. The exhibitions in the Human cultures hall includes: Ancient Chinese science and technology, the Spiritual life of Han people, the Culture of Taiwanese aboriginals, ...etc. These are unique and seldom to see in other museums.
There are also some short term exhibitions. For example: “The King of oriental musical instruments” (Serial bells of Zeng Marquis Yi 曾侯乙編鐘), “Together forever” (transdisciplinary exploration of contemporary marriage)…etc. They are of great interest to me.

Nice lay out with plenty to see. Informational and not overwhelming. Need to get separate tickets for the imax theater, and it was worth it, the seating in the theater is very tight with no leg room. I just wish there are more dining options than just McDonalds. The air conditioning in August seems to be only a few degrees cooler than outside, which made the experience less welcoming.

This was a great place to spend an afternoon, really needed a whole day to see everything. I have learned that Taiwan is very good at building exhibitions/displays that engage viewers, with interactive components to delight young and old. We saw, at best, two-thirds of the main building during our visit. There are some amazing artefacts demonstrating the strong cultural history of Taiwan. We didn't get audio information or join a tour group but most displays either have English signs, or QR codes to access English information - or Google Translate did a great job when needed.

I came early in the morning to explore this place. I'm glad I came. Because there was just enough time. Attention to those who want to come, there are many shows being held here. However, you need to use technology well to read the explanations.

The Museum was located at Guancian Road, 10 minutes' walk from Sogo Department Store, it's virtually in the centre of the downtown, easily accessible by taxi or bus. The entrance fee of the main exhibition hall was NT100 for adults and NT50 for children.
This museum was one of our favourite places in Taichung. One day was definitely not enough for exploration in this well-maintained premises. We've been here for 3 times within 2 years' time and on every occasion there was something new for us. The name 'Natural Science' was, strictly speaking, unable to reflect the wide range of varieties that the exhibits covered. In terms of Taiwan standard, this was in fact an all-in-one knowledge fountain for people at all ages to inquire.
The museum comprised of the IMAX theater, Science Centre, Life Science Hall, Human Culture Hall, Global environment Hall and the Botanical Garden. Children and adults were amazed at the sight of dinosaurs at the Age of Dinosaur Gallery - very Jurassic Park feel. Small reptiles were kept in the mini zoo. A wide range of exhibits on zoology, human biology, space science, astronomy, ecology, botany, Taiwan local deities and micro-organisms were on the site, well maintained and neatly displayed bilingually. Special exhibitions on different subjects, were held frequently. The Museum provided a lot of interactive opportunities for all visitors.
Exhausted in the middle of the day? There were 3 eateries inside the premises which provided hamburgers, noodles and rice sets. Most of the washrooms were clean and tidy. The management of the Museum should be given a credit.
Highly recommended for visitors at all ages.

You can't see everything at the museum in one day. It would take several days to do it justice. The kids are thrilled with the dinosaur display — many of them move and roar, and there is one that talks about the state of our world today. Children can take advantage of the science centre at the museum, and even take classes there. The museum itself is clean, well laid out, and covers nearly every aspect of life, be it the beginnings of our world, the evolution of humans, human development, geology, and much more. This museum puts many others around the world to shame, it's so well done.

Wow... yes, i have been to many museums (history museums or science...etc) but not one where they show specifically Chinese (medicinal and technology from the ancient Chinese)! It's very rewarding for both children and adults.
I spent an hour going through the Chinese Medicine section, taking notes and pictures!
AND there's an outdoor garden with Chinese Herbs right next to it!!!

Can anyone suggest how much time should be spend here, if with kids?
Written September 22, 2017
At least 1/2 day. We spent 2 hrs there, not enough time. There are lots of queues during exhibition. Need to queue to get a ticket in advance for some of them.
