台東縣最重要河川

卑南溪是花東縱谷南段最大的河川，由北往南貫穿台東縣境，池上、關山等稻米盛產區，卑南、台東等主要人口聚集地都在卑南溪畔。縣道197號公路蜿蜒在卑南西東岸的海岸山脈半山腰上，在卑南鄉利吉村的阿邦安福德祠附近，可以清楚眺望花東縱谷、卑南溪與中央山脈。卑南溪冬季進入枯水期，裸露出大片河床，東北季風強勁時，常颳起溪床砂土形成砂塵暴。為了避免風砂影響沿岸城鎮，水利單位將溪床挖成一片一片的水池，可有效減少塵土飛揚，也讓溪床看起來像是布滿了魚塭。

下流付近でもちょっとした自然の景勝地のようでした。
