When I first heard "sports park", I thought it didn't sound all that interesting. I was definitely wrong.
The sports park is a BEAUTIFUL place with tons to do.
There are all sorts of sports areas (of course) such as basketball courts, track fields, tennis courts, and the like.
BUT FEAR NOT! For the non-sportsy people like me, it is still more than worth the trip!
The entrance is a beautiful pond with a fountain. Paths leading all the way around the park will take you through a koi pond, a cool amphitheatre, a field, a woods-y area, a spot where you can see the entire park from up above, and much more.
It's hard to describe all that goes on at the awesome Luodong Sports Park. Definitely worth the trip, even worth going all the way there from Taipei.

A large park that a lot of the locals come to for outdoor activities, such as basketball, biking, baseball or just an after-dinner walk. There's also a nice pond in the middle that has a stall where you can purchase feed for the ducks and fish. There's a very nice design to the park with a lot of open spaces and spots that seem well suited for a picnic or just relaxing in nature.

Lutong Sports Park was designed by a Japanese ar hi text on a piece of then vacant ground. It is landscaped with small hill to climb and a huge lake where there are enormous koi fish. These have become so tame that they can be fed from the jetty by hand. There are also other water birds on the lake like swans but these are not as tame as the carp. There is a small kiosk selling drinks near the jetty. Also available are tennis courts, baseball arena and plenty of space to all, ride and relax. A picnic at one of the wooden gazebos on the lake shore is fun and relaxing. Admission is free.

Beautiful park to walk around. It has many water features, purpose built rock formations and meeting places. it also has a few sporting fields that are open to the public for use.
You can also purchase food to eat or take some bread to feed the plentful fish in the many ponds.

I stay at a B&B near MeiHua lake, the care taker told me I can ride my bicycle along the levy and get to Luodong sports park for a swim. I have been swim in many sports complex in Taipei, It is so crowded it's like giant bath tub. When I arrive at Luodong Sports Park Swim pool, the water was cold and clear. What got me the most was hardly anyone was there and the cost of my admission was fraction of what I paid in Taipei. The swim pool even got sun shade on half of it. so if you do not want to get tan line, you can stay under it.

by bike or by foot, you cannot help yourself from stopping to admire the stunning views, flora and fauna in this park. I visited on a rainy day, and it was equally stunning in his peaceful setting and few visitors

Luodong Sports Park is extremely beautiful that has great views all around the park! The park is huge and you can easily spend an hour just walking and admiring the views there. It is also easily accessible via the free Luodong shuttle bus (take the blue line from the train station and alight at the last stop!)

It's beautiful and peaceful park. Awesome view. Great place for work out, enjoy trees, and see fountain show. If you are a runner, must try running around which is about 4 km. I love it very much!
