Temple Built With Glass, including Decoration and Statues
Sep 2018
Visiting this unique temple will give you a "Wow" impression, either during day or night time. Yes, everything you see in the Temple, there are glass. With the lighting effect, the night scene is colorful. There is no entry fee. A must visit place it is!

Day or night - but seriously, night!

This temple is gorgeous. It is a Mazu temple, and it is very lovely during the day, with an ornate dragon decorated with a body of persimmons. Two walls depict a glass mural of Taiwan places. The temple caretaker is so friendly and will explain the mural. At night, he might insist upon having you stand outside so they can take a mirror image picture of you with the lit temple. And--oh--at night it is is well-worth a return visit to see it lit, flashing, colorful. This is when the temple really shows best.

Visit at night

Best to see this in the evening once darkness falls and the lights are on. Even then, it's not all that amazing. Certainly original and quite clever, it's so far away from Lugang and a very expensive taxi ride - 250TWD each way - that it's probably not worth it unless you're desperate to see it.

The Hu Sheng Temple is really majestic and a wonder. All its walls are made from glass. Inside, they offer free biscuits for the children, rice for peace, and glass bead bracelets for luck. They also offer water bottles for weary travelers. One can also pray for good voyage and safety as it is a real temple. There is a pond in the middle and people can test their skill in throwing coins on bowls underwater.

By 6pm, the glass temple lights and it is such a pretty sight.

Not great
Jan 2016 • Friends
Personally I thought it was a bit tacky and the tinny music that was playing didn't help.
I visited at night and it was quite out of the way - not somewhere you could walk to easily.
If you had limited time, I wouldn't recommend.

Stopped after glass factory visit, very nice
Jul 2015 • Family
A nice little place to visit before or after the glass factory. More cool glass artwork inside and the temple staff was very informative and spoke English very well, at least the guy that was talking to us. Overall, you won't spend more than 15 minutes here and I wouldn't come just for the temple. Combine with the glass factory and makes for a nice afternoon.
