buddah temple
Nov 2018 • Couples
It is just another Buddah temple with no great historical value. Just an average temple
without too many status. Very common temple in Taiwan.

Longsan Temple

From our hotel, took the train to this hotspot temple and prayed to all the god and goddess enshrined in the temple completing the circular prayers. There are English pamphlet with Japanese, English translations and how to. Also able to buy some health charms to bring back home.

This temple is in Tamsui, not in Taipei!
Dec 2016 • Couples
Most of the reviews and pictures are about Longshan Temple in Taipei, but this small temple is in Tamsui, near the market area.

Typical old temple!

Taiwanese temple, food, people, and local leisure activities are all included for your enjoyment! You can easily spend an entire day there to have a real good taste of Taiwan.

Did a four hour tour and took lots of photos

Longshan is a beautiful centuries old temple with waterfalls and koi ponds. The sculptures on the premises are stunning especially the story ones on the pillars. The worship booths are gorgeous! The gift shop was buzzing with good wish and blessing items for sale as souvenirs or for worship

A good insight into the local culture. I was with a friend who was able to explain everything to me. As I am only able to read English. If you can read chinese it will be ok for you. Great atmosphere but a bit busy also. Able to catch MRT to here

It is that where local people pray
Nov 2016 • Family
Out of jet lag, my husband and I found a Chinese breakfast place at 6 am one day. The shop owners were surprised We didn't know about the Tempe. We were then highly recommended to go 'down the block' to feel the 'local culture'.
As we stepped through the main gate, we heard chanting. Entering the inner gate, there were probably over one hundred desciples all praying together. They stood along hallways outside the main shrine and around d the courtyard, palms joined, looking down, and prayed along. Some that couldn't remember the verses brought their own Sutras to read along. They paid no attention to us. At about 7:30, as chanting came to a close, they took three bows when a gong stroke, picked up their 'chores of the day' whether they may be school books, laptops, grocery bags, or office suitcases, they went separate ways, leaving my husband and I in awe.
They didn't need seats, nor a roof, just their humble hearts. No loud speaker, no chit chat, we witnessed an extraordinary experience by common everyday people.
So when you visit, please be respectful that this is just like churches in the West, it is also a practicing religious entity.

Small but very atmospheric
Mar 2017 • Couples
Crowded with worshipers who were clearly inspired to be at this temple - the compact area creates a very atmospheric and spiritual atmosphere. It would have been useful to know details of the various worship locations and practices, but an interesting and enjoyable visit to this ancient building

Too crowded
Mar 2017 • Solo
Had a bad experience visiting this temple; not only was it very crowded, they were fixing a lot of installations when I visited.
