Cheng Gong Tunnel to Beach
Sep 2018 • Friends
The first tunnel we visited in our Kinmen trip. Heard about Kinmen tunnels for a long time, so it’s nice to finally to explore it myself. Given the fact that Kinmen island is pretty much made of granite, all these tunnels remain natural without the use of cement once the tunnel were made. Some of tunnels are big and wide enough for boats to go through to protect the shipment of goods during the wartime. It’s a unique culture and architecture to explore in Kinmen.

It's safe to go to the beach, now
Oct 2016 • Solo
In days gone by, Kinmen's beaches were off limits. They were the front line if the Cold War. Mao's Communists threatred to assault Kinmen and many of the beaches were mined. Most mines have now been removed, so have a happy time by the seaside.
