Best visitor experience
Jan 2020
Having seen other wartime and historic sites and tunnels, I was dubious about yet another. But this is THE ONE to include if you're sightseeing. The island has an interesting history with two attempted takeovers by the mainland. These tunnels are huge and well worth a visit.

Loved it..

Best to rent a scooter and just go there. So much history, just doesn't take much time to go through it all.

Eerie photogenic spot

Nothing to leave about this place. It was part of the A line guided bus tour and the last stop. If you are visiting on purpose and not part of the guided tour then it is definitely not worth the time.

3 years of Hard Works
Mar 2019 • Friends
The entrance were unassuming, with Tanks, anti-aircraft guns & war-boats. This is more a museum of military hideouts. For 3 years, tunnels were dig with flowing water whereby flat bottom boats could take cover from being detected by the enemy. This military base, not too big, could sit some 30 boats at a time. this blaster tunnels, of solid rocks & granites. The still water forms a superb reflection of the roofing that actually provide a grand art piece, as the water divides it forms a deep ravine of undulated flooring. So artistically crafted that our cameras just simply clicks away. Careful now, don't drop them into the water. The environment was a constant 20 degree, this afternoon with the outside temperature about 29 degree & the sun. Very comfortable, very impressive.

Great for military buffs

Impressive to see this war tunnel! It was blasted from granite, inside the tunnel, it feels cool and damp!

There are military vessels and other equipments on display outside the tunnel.

Worth a visit if you a military buff!

Well known Music tunnel
Sep 2018 • Friends
Be far, the best, prettiest tunnel I have been in Kinmen. The water just like a mirror to perfectly reflect the above water scene. This tunnel was built to ship the goods and suppliers during the 823 War. In addition to the prettiest scenes, this tunnel, nowadays, is known for its tunnel music festival.

Impressive

Of all the underground sights in Kinmen, Zaishan Tunnel was by far the most impressive. Built so that a carrier ship can enter and turn around while being hidden, it is the most unique tunnel system I have seen. Two of the carrier ships are on its grounds on display so you can tell how difficult it would’ve been to navigate it into what looks like a very narrow gate into the tunnels. You can walk parallel to the tunnels in its full length and also walk outside of it to the coast to view the seafront gates.

Magnificent Military Tunnel
Jun 2018 • Couples
It's a proof of the Chinese Civil War between Kuomintang and Chinese Communist Party in 1940s. Its construction was completed within a few years, without high-tech construction plant to do so back then, which is quite impressing. I could feel the atmosphere of the civil war back then. No admission fee is needed.

Soothing music as you walk to the sea in a damp tunnel
May 2018 • Business
There is something very strange about hearing soothing music while contemplating why this tunnel was built in the first place. It was a way to get boats unloaded without people getting bombed. It is about 100 m walk to the end where you can peer out at the ocean. You can also walk outside to the ocean and peer back at the sluice gates which now block both tunnel entrances. Apparently they sometimes have concerts in the tunnels (?) as the acoustics are rather unworldly. And then when we were outside, we spotted a goat standing on top of the other tunnel. And it then ran up the hills.

You have to go and have a look and when you have finished inside go and see it from the outside on the ocean to understand how they got the landing craft in there
