We love the peace and quiet of this beach. It is a great place to watch sunsets and relax when it is not tourist season. But during tourist season it is insane and loud with tractors pulling ocean toys and jet skis everywhere. So go off season.

My family and I came here for water activities, but that only lasted maybe 15minutes at the most. After we hung out at the beach. But I definitely did not like this beach as much. There were trailers pulling the jet skis and they were loud. And the jet skis would speed into the beach which I thought was very dangerous. The beach was red flagged but we were allowed in the water, just not too far since a lifeguard yelled for my son to walk back at one point. (Yes it was still shallow where he was that he could walk back. I think he was not allowed that far due to the jet skis.)
I do not think I would come back to this beach again. I feel that the jet skis were too dangerous for waders/swimmers. They should designate a section for jet skis to pick up and drop off their clients from the beach.

Lots of beautiful yellow sand, cheap umbrellas for rent under the strong sun, crystal-clear clean water, palm trees in the background, and good snacks across the road—has paradise come down to earth?

Unfortunately not. Roaring four-wheel motorbikes race around the beach to serve guests. And beyond the swimming zone, roaring jet skis with towboats zip around to entertain guests. The noise is overwhelming at times.

In short: There are motorized snakes in paradise. But Nanwan is still an almost perfect beach.

Nanwan is a beautiful little beach tucked in a bay next to a road between Hengchun and Kenting. Picture the French Riviera without the French restaurants and with more scooters.

The weekends are a bit hectic, so try to avoid it at all costs. If you cannot, try finding a spot at the west end of the beach near the power station.

Watch out for all the free wheeling jet skis. If it hasn’t already happened, someone is going to get killed or seriously injured by one of the jet skis that are constantly zipping around swimmers as they return and exit the beach. Assume there are no regulations for this. Hopefully they do something about it before someone gets hurt.

The road boarding the beach is covered with a ton of wonderful restaurants, bars, hostels, and boutique hotels. I stayed at place for 1,500/night with an amazing view of the ocean.

For me, the best part of the location is access to the beach at night. Grab a few beers at 7-11, cross the street, and enjoy the beautiful night sky to the natural soundtrack of ocean waves hitting the beach. Priceless (including the 25nt beers).

All in all, a nice little beach next to a strip of great restaurants and hotels. Watch out for the jet skis and take advantage of the beach at night.

Beautiful beach with gorgeous views plus all kinds of sports as well as some nice bars and restaurants. Somehow, half of stores are closed and abandoned now. The sunset view is magnificent but the water is a bit too cold to get in now. Definitely a must visit spot for anyone traveling to Kending.

As another reviewer predicted, my husband & I just got hit by a blow up ride being towed by a jet ski. We were snorkeling as close to the shore as possible, as the jet ski was driving closer & closer every time he went past. We were 5ft over coral when he hit us & then abused us verbally (as in, he wasn't checking to see if we were ok!). Turns out, we hadn't paid for a guided snorkel tour & this is the punishment. The gorgeous coral & amazing fish life will not last long with this kind of abuse.

Here is a busy beach for water activities with fame in Keinting. Lots of activities to choose from but remember to compare and bargain a bit. A place with Convenience and fun

Lovely beach and a lot of local surfers.
Reminds me of where I grew up in California.
The waves are not big all year long, but when there are storms nearby the waves grow! Good long rides on these waves, it’s really a surfers paradise in Taiwan!
There are surfing festivals and championships every year! The weather is great here all year long and the village is very charming. The locals are very friendly and extremly helpful. One of the best kept secrets in the travel world!

Nanwan is a beautiful stretch of beach where you can get almost any of the typical sea activities you may like. Problem was, the washed up dead corals really make it difficult and painful to get to the clear white waters! Still a place worth visiting! It quieter than xiao wan tho there isnt much food at night.
