The Old Caoling Tunnel is the first railroad tunnel renovated as a cycling tunnel in North Taiwan. The Old Tunnel is designed with a railroad museum concept. Cycling through the Old Caoling Tunnel with train sound effects is just like going through a real railroad tunnel, feeling not only retro but also fun. The Old Caoling Tunnel cycling path links Shicheng and Longmen campsite, drawing out a beautiful mountain coast green cycling lawn through the north-eastern cape. Along the coast, enjoy the blue ocean and craftsmanship of nature in the ocean wind. During the “Ho-Hai-Yan Gongliao Rock Festival” held in Fulong Beach every July, indie bands around the world are invited to perform here and attract numerous music loving youths to gather and have fun in the water enjoying nights of music with an evening ocean breeze. One can also experience the slow lifestyle of farms and gardens, and feel the clean air, pure water, and good soil of organic farms. The locals harvest crops to sell in Shuangxi Station morning market. They are as friendly and simplistic as the Shuangxi crops sold.

Most Eastern point of Taiwan
Dec 2018 • Family
Aim to conquer all 4 points of Taiwan, Eastern point was the first that we visited. Unfortunately it was raining when we were there so we were not able to enjoy the view very much. There were some nice statues for picture taking.

Interesting
Aug 2018 • Family
This is an interesting site to visit because it lies at the easternmost extremity of Taiwan island. It has a Doppler installation and an old light house on the site but you can not tour inside either of them.

There is a short walking path with a few commutative monuments indicating the importance of the site.

There are two shaded areas where you can have a picnic or eat some snacks if you bring them.

It is not far off the main highway and is easy to get to. There is no entrance fee and it is worth the stop if you are in the area.

Hire a car to go up please
May 2018 • Family
Disclaimer: If you follow tour group and you go by bus, bus won't be able to go up the narrow road to the lighthouse viewpoint, you will have to walk uphill. It is okay for youngsters to walk up and down hill. But we saw a group of old people, 50 years old and above, alighted from their bus at the main road and walked their way uphill.

We hired a car, so we drove uphill, no walking. The view of the ocean from above was breathless. The lighthouse was amazing. The place was clean and well maintained. There was a photo gallery in the lighthouse itself. You will be able to see photos of the four lighthouses in Taiwan. You are not allowed to go up the lighthouse.

If you do collect ink stamp images of attractions in Taiwan, remember to bring your own ink pad, the one they provided was dried out. We took many nice photos with the lighthouse and we surely love the view from the lighthouse.

Gazing the sea view from most east point Taiwan
May 2018 • Family
Kuruma Steven and Louis drove us to Easter most extremity point of Taiwan, Sandiao Cape Lighthouse which was built in 1935, after we finished our Caoling Tunnel cycling first itinerary.

It’s a short 15 minutes drive up the hill and ample of free parking. There is a small museum to tell about the light house and famous visitor Chiang Kai Shek.

There is a Easter most point viewing platform to enjoy the sea view. We noticed a group of cyclist were resting to enjoy the view. We all spent about 40 minutes to visit three main spots from podium, view platform and Lighthouse museum surrounding and left the place at 12.15 pm to have lunch at Full Go-Go Klin Roast Chicken Restaurant in Yilan arranger by Kuruma Steven and Louis. Any on this pls contact Steven +886 930 675 038 via WhatsApp. Go go go Kuruma 👏

Free attraction and great view, great winds!
Dec 2017 • Couples
This is the only lighthouse opened to the public of the north eastern side of Taiwan and you are looking at the ocean linking Korea and Japan from here. The wind is strong and if its a rainy day, be prepared for a strong fight from mother natural. As it is, I came in Dec 2017 and the temperature is about 10C. The wind definitely require strong winter wear.

There is a small roads with some ups and downs and no stairs which brings you to the look out point. This is DEFINITELY a must! I would snap as much as I could, but without gloves, I soon could not feel my hand due to the cold sea winds.

There is also a "hidden" photo challenge, which is to capture the lighthouse in the heart shape structure. Look for a patch of grass which is worn off and you know that is the spot. But it could be covered in water as well, but I did say its a challenge.

The only thing missing is a good coffee machine or cafe. It would be heaven to have a cup of hot coffee or tea here. And a piece of chocolate or raspberry shortcake.

Amazing view
Dec 2017 • Family
It's a free attraction in the northeast part of Taiwan. You have take amazing photographs here as the view is phenomenal. Best time to visit is when the sun is up. A lighthouse, a sea, a long winding roads - a perfect combination to be described as picturesque.

The lighthouse itself has documentation of its history so you can see old pictures, old maps, and old titles, etc.

PS. It's near the sea so it's very windy here.

Breathtaking View
Jan 2017 • Family
If you're looking for a scenic view coupled with a little bit of history, the Sandiao Cape Lighthouse is a perfect choice. It's hard to imagine that the site served as a battlefield when it's surrounded by serene waters, beautiful clear skies, and lush greenery.

Don't miss out on the neat displays located inside its small museum :)!
