Glass Museum of Hsinchu City consists of a number of various glass items - blown flowers and vases - bowls, insect and people figures - stained glass etc. A jail cell was puzzling. A few people appeared to be excited to be there - me not so much albeit the artwork was nice and very pleasing to view. Downstairs - be certain to stand behind the line when viewing a glass item or you will chastised for your indiscretion.
Take time to stroll about the park and a short walk walk out of the park there is a small market with flowers, food stalls and trinkets for sale.

good place to walk around. There is a night market next to it and that is a bigger attraction for me.

I was unaware that Hsinchu was renown for its glass blowing and glass artwork. This pleasant museum offers a three story glimpse into this world. Am easy place to wile away an hour of two.

This city is known for its glass blowing and glass art. There is no better way to see you then at this Museum. Make sure you check out the glass jail cell.

The place is small with some nice Japanese glass lamp shades. I visited the museum on a cold rainy day so it was okay, I wouldn't book a tour specially to see the place.
30 minutes are enough to see all exhibits and then move on to more vibrant places.

This is a small building next to the Zoo. Has two floors with no elevator that I could find so disabled or elderly may have some difficulty with the stairs. The Japanese lampshades were very nice and some other pieces were rather delicately made glass that took a lot of skill. There was a history of glass in Hsinchu and I think Taiwanese would find this history more interesting as there seemed to be a bit more of a description of stuff in Chinese. Wasn't very expensive and I felt I got my money's worth - probably 30-60 minutes is required to see the whole thing.

Nothing much over there, therefore not worth a visit.
Only thing is there are some decent food stalls but when I went, only some were open

Not worth it. Go to the glass shops which are close to the little lake and have a punt around there. It is much more interesting. The museum is dull and boring.

Interesting place to see the various glass creations and learn about glass-making techniques and usage of glass over the centuries (and in recent times). Quite stressful to visit with kids as everything is fragile...

Sorry, but I did read some of the reviews before I penned mine down. And so I guess many people are more forgiving. For me, it was really NOT WORTH it if you were all excited to see what magical glass sculptures or expect to be blown away from glassy wonders. Oh well... you are in for a shattering experience.
The artefacts on display are old, not very clean, some so mind-blogging, I guess you have to be a true solidified-liquid lover to appreciate. I could not anyway, and found the place rather dull. No photography allowed inside this museum so I guess i cannot further convince anyone. All the photos you see posted by other reviewers are scenes OUTSIDE the museum, so don't be fooled.
Advantage? it is VERY cheap. NT20/per person, and free entry for anyone above 65 years old (regardless of citizenship, so long you have your passport).
During the summer, I guess it is a good place to seek refuge from the blazing sun, as the air-conditioning is good. And that is where my 1-star is awarded to.

How do you go about making reservations for the DIY workshop. I intend to visit the Museum on 13 Jun. Is there any emails to contact the museum authorities. Appreciate if you can advise. thanks
