Old bridge and new bridge, side by side
Aug 2020
Daxi is a township in Taoyuan County, which is best known as a holiday resort for the late President Chiang Kai-shek and his wife, Soong Mai-ling. Daxi is quite a way from Taoyuan City. Daxi is also well known as the resting place of President Chiang and his son, Chiang Ching-kuo. Two bridges cross the river at Daxi, the old one no longer takes motorised traffic and the new one will take cars and motorcycles. Daxi is a scenic area, the view over the river is very pleasing.

Walkers only

The Daxi Old Bridge has been replaced by a new bridge, which as a lane for cyclists and motorcyclists. The old bridge is a suspension bridge, it is open to pedestrians. The old bridge is quite good, you can see it from the tower above the river in Daxi township.

Some history behind it
Jan 2018 • Solo
The bridge was a replacement of a former bridge built in the 80s(which was a replacement of another bridge built in the 60s), the first history, the 60s bridge allowed light rail vehicle to operate over, the 80s bridge was wider allows bikes, and 2 buses to pass safely. And this bridge somewhat utility the foundation and decorated the whole bridge to make the 80s bridge looks good. Whole history of various bridge replacements indicated the civil construction ability weren't the best, especially in Taoyuan in between 1960 and 80s.

Now a days a bridge for walker, bikes....scenery unfortunately over look at the over developed river bank

Beautiful bridge

The bridge is quite big (walking bridge) and is located right next to the daxi old street. It's the most beautiful during night time since it lit and shifts color. Really recommend you to see it if you're nearby!

This is a lovely bridge and you can access it via the park. A great location to capture the sunset over the Dasi Bridge.

Daxi Bridge

Maybe the focus of this place is the bridge, but the food is good too. Don't miss the market near the bridge
