Dadaocheng Pier is probably the most lively place in downtown Taipei on the Tamsui River. In addition to renting bicycles to enjoy the scenery along the river bank, there are also restaurants where tourists can eat and drink while watching the river view. There is also a ferry service. After confirming the timetable, you can board the boat to enjoy the scenery of Tamsui River. In the evening, dusk is the most romantic time. You can find a place to sit and quietly enjoy the beauty of the sunset falling on the river.

This place is truly unforgettable. The beautiful scenery not only makes people intoxicated, but also allows the soul to have a moment of peace. The clean and tidy environment adds to the pleasant feeling of the tour and makes people feel comfortable.
Moreover, there are dining cars that provide a variety of food options, which is undoubtedly a plus point to meet the needs of tourists.
I will not hesitate to recommend this place to everyone for a pleasant and unforgettable time.

This pier or wharf is along Tamsui river. It is now a connector along the river for many activities - walking, running, cyclying, tennis, exercise, etc.

Not a lot to do here, but it is an excellent place to relax. The adjacent Dadaocheng neighbourhood is a fascinating place for a three-hour stroll. It preserves a lot of the older architecture of Taipei.

The pier used to be a busy river trading post. It is now a popular tourists spot. There are some food stalls next to the pier so you could enjoy the view with food and drinks (beers too). Some food stalls have rooftop seating so you could have your food and drinks on the rooftop while enjoying the river view.

It offers a great view of the Tamsui river, and is a nice place to talk a walk. Bicycles are available for rent if one prefers not to walk.

The pier is located far from metro station so if you’re looking for a stroll in the streets of Taipei it will suit you. There are some artworks in the pier and a light breeze from the river. We think there will be cruise boats but there were not. Nothing to do or see apparently.

Dadaocheng itself is not a great part of Taipei. In fact, it is very ugly! The only good thing about it is to take a boat (some of them with guides - if you are lucky, even speaking English or Japanese).
However, the pier neighborhood area is very interesting. I mean, it is old and need an urgent renewal (well, most parts of Taipei have the same urgency...). But, historically speaking, it is very rich.
To hire a proper guide to talk about the first houses built there, or the embassies/foreign representations placed in the area, or the old markets, churchs, warehouses... is a great plan for a weekend day!

Not so easy to go if you are walking and not much to see. Better to stay on Di Hua Street 1st section to look after the old architecture and fancy shops

The vast river expanse separating Taipei from New Taipei City is a sight to behold. Along the river are pathways suitable for running or cycling and small food shops incentivize the casual passersby to take a moment and sit down.
