Historical temple
Nov 2019
The temple may be small but it is a very important temple to the locals. When we dropped by, it was the fifteenth on the lunar calendar and the temple was teeming with temple goers. The temple also offered free blessed tea (wolfberries & red dates) for visitors on one side. Best time to visit is probably during May 13th (lunar calendar) which is the City God's Birthday.

Bl8nk and you'll miss it!

One of the attractions of this temple is that it's small and compact. It's unusual to see temples of this size in Taiwan. Bring s Saturday with lots of folk on Dihua Street there were lots of visitors making offerings. Worth seeing.

Lovely (and tiny) Temple on a Great Walking Street
Oct 2019
This charming little temple is much the same as it was in the 19th Century (built in 1859). Though it is home to the City God, 600 other spiritual figurines also are found here, giving it the highest statue density in Taipei. Another resident is the Old Man Under the Moon, who is the Chinese Cupid, so single folk looking for love also come here to pray. This temple is the spiritual center of the community and has a lot of things happening around Chinese New Year. It is also located on Dahua Street (reviewed separately), which is full of wonderful shops, old and new.

This small temple on Dihua street houses the city god. A small but very interesting temple, easily missed.

Great little temple in Dihua St
May 2019 • Solo
If you are wandering down Dihua Street, you cannot miss the City God Temple. It was built in 1859 and maintained by a single family to the present day. It houses over 600 dieties. It has become known as the temple for matchmaking and love. Visitors hoping to find love or just maintain a happy marriage, pray at this Taoist temple. Couples who have recently got engaged or married will often leave offerings of cookies. Make sure you see inside both rooms as the 1000 golden Buddhas is most interesting. I found a staff member who spoke good English and she was able to answer all my questions. It is always crowded, but don't let this stop you from entering.

Bustling temple ...
Dec 2018 • Couples
People had incense in their hands and were praying in great numbers the day we went. Was so crowded it didn't feel comfortable to push our way in. Simple, small but picturesque spot. If you on Dihua street, don't miss. You can't walk by and not see it. Ornate exterior roof and intriguing dark interior

Taiwanese temple. They were serving a small cup of sweet tea at the front. This may be for visitors for prayer but the tea was accessible for anyone. This temple locates love Cupid so especially popular among young ladies and Japanese.

Crowded on a Saturday afternoon

This temple is famous for praying to Yue Lao ("Chinese Cupid") and when I reached, the staff helped to pray and walked you through how to pray. instructions are mostly in Mandarin, not sure if there are other languages available but it's an interesting experience. Streets nearby are also selling stuff related to Chinese Cupid. There's a vending machine just opposite the temple selling Yue Lao Milk Tea (which is not too bad!) . Cute and interesting to see ;)
