NIGHTS in Taipei is not complete w/o visiting their famous markets.! We been to the Shilin so we try out this equally famous. Take the red line to Shuanglian (雙連) Exit 1 and head west/left side for a 10 mins walk. Not bored as there are many shops still operating late at night. From Minsheng West Road (民生西路) the night market will be clearly visible. You just can’t miss the bustling寧夏觀光夜市.
Actually not a very big night market that has over 20 food stands and restaurants at both sides. The market is a pioneer and is over 50 years old. Very packed as we have to wrestle our way a full U-turn when reaching one end. The eating areas are small and many are seen waiting for their turns. These stalls are fairly close together but there is good variety of food from stinky tofu, squid on skewers, rice dishes, noodles. There are also oyster omelette, taro cake, tofu pudding and many other traditional Taiwan style dish that will satisfied your palate. At some corners there are also Some night market games (old-school but missed them!)
Indeed a nice place providing delicious snacks and more, definitely recommended for tourists whom want to immense themselves with the locals ..

I would say this night market has the largest variety of food from among all the night markets we visited (and that was quite a lot). I liked the atmosphere at the place. Just prepare for a lot of people due to the fact that the venders´ stalls are put way to close to each other.

Went to this night market with my wife and had a lot of fun walking around eating food! If you want to experience authentic, roadside food carts this is one of the places to go in Taipei. Tip, take your time and eat a little bit of everything. Also try the regular restaurants along the road they are delicious as well.

The Qs are very long for all stores . Takes a long time to get food . Unless you are willing to wait and are not hungry , you might like to join the Qs.

The prices are expensive relatively to food court prices too .

Not a positive experience overall .

We liked this night market because it was close to our hotel (near Taipei Main Station) and the booths were all pretty much on one street. The variety was really good, from chicken on a stick to taro balls to mochi sesame to fried rice to egg/oyster plate. The only down side is that some carts that were there the first day weren’t there the next day, so you may miss out on a favorite. Still worth the walk around.

Tip 1: Go there with an empty stomach

Tip 2: The biggest mistake that everyone makes is settle for the first stall or first shop they saw when they enter the night market. What you need to do it walk the whole stretch of the market and then decide what you like to eat.

Tip 3: What kind of food do they have? Because this is Taipei city, they have the famous fried oyster omelette (a few shops along the stretch but be prepare to queue up), soy shredded chicken rice, pig trotter with fry vermicili and at some of the backstreets of ningxia market, you will find small llittle restaurants selling fresh sashimi. Away from the market, there is a shop that sells pork belly bun roll (Gua Bao).

Tip 4: This is actually the perfect street for foodie travellers because all the taipei food is congregated in this area.

Tip 5: Bring cash with you. No ATM card or credit card accepted.

Tip 6: There is a problem here, you cannot find a public toilet here so make sure you relieve yourself in the nearby pblic toilet in the shopping mall before you get here.

Tip 7: If you are staying in a hotel nearby, i suggest you walk to Ningxia market because the back alleys and streets are the perfect place to see the everyday life of a Taiwanese

High recommend travellers to visit this place. Food might not suit westerners but maybe a small bite or taste would be sufficient to satisfy their curiosity.

Forget about ShihLin night market, which is over-hyped and locals don't go anymore. Other than RaoHe night market, this is the next one to consider if you want to immerse yourself in the Taiwan night market atmosphere. Although smaller in scale compared to RaoHe night market, NingXia is still worth a visit, given that it has a number of eateries by the side with more than 10 years in operation.

Night markets are always a great attraction for visitors to Taiwan. Ningxia is a great one to visit if you are around that area. Compared with the US, I would say you get better food for lower prices. A few tips for visiting night markets in general:

1. Some fruits may be sold at a higher than appropriate price. If you look like a foreigner, some merchants may sometimes assume that you don't know anything. Don't be fooled.
2. If your guts tell you that something is unsanitary, trust your intuition. Although I have not experienced food poisoning, it can happen if you are not careful.
3. Beware of pickpockets. Although Taiwan is generally safe in terms of violent crimes, theft is not uncommon. Avoid bringing anything that you cannot afford to lose if possible. If you have the habit of keeping your phone in your back pocket, I would caution you not to do it for your visit.
4. You will need cash for payment, but I consider $600 NT (roughly $20 USD) to be plenty for one visit. Also, because some of the mini games may be addicting, it is best to have limited cash on hand to help avoid too much impulse spending.
5. Stinky tofu tastes much better than it smells. Give it a try! However, don't sit near those stalls if you are trying to enjoy other food. If you plan to try this treat, mint gum or something that can help get rid of bad breath after you are finished will come in handy.

Six of our family members, three are local, made a visit to the Ningxia Night Market, the well-known night market for the local. We arrived at the height of time, at around 8.00 O'clock on the Saturday evening. The market was packed with people. There were hundreds of food stalls lining up along the road selling different kinds of exotic foods. Quite a few were well known to the public. For example, the one with a baby cot at one side of the store famous for 蚵仔煎 had a line of over 30 people! We didn't wait but went along with the tide of people, and at one time was completely on a standstill ! Hot food stores along the road we came across offered different styles and tastes. Those such as 排骨酥麵 煙燻空心鳳爪 胡椒蝦 貓耳朵 and 青蛙下蛋 were alien to us. Others like 臭豆腐 潤餅 虱目魚焿 attracted many visitors. Our local guide led us to a restaurant called the 感恩牛羊肉小館. According to her, this was the right place for us. We tried 清燉牛肉麵140元 紅油炒手65元 沙茶炒麵90元 及鷄肉養生鍋210元 . All were above our expectations and very delicious. We would like to recommend to all visitors that this Night Market is distinctive to the locals and no one will be disappointed of making a visit if you happen to be in Taipei.

Second time I visited Taipei but we were 1st time came to Ningxia night market. We walk from our hotel at ZhongShan MRT Nanjing West Rd all the way to NingXia Rd, it was so easy to get here.

We reached about 8pm on a Tuesday night. Our plan was walk to the end of the street then only decide what we need to eat. There was too many food stalls till we felt hard to decide what we need to order!

So happen to saw (1) 刘芋仔蛋黄芋饼 Liu Yu Zai (fried yam paste ball with/ without eggs yolk) in a short queue, no doubt I joined the queue immediate since there was so many good reviews of it.
Personally we all prefer the one without eggs yolk; not really worth the waiting if queue is too long.

(2) 猪肝荣仔 Pork Liver Rong Zai
Normally we eat pig lungs thin slices, but this stall they cut it in thick slices! Nice experience with the mixed organ soup; for the dumpling, skip and save your tummy for some others food!

(3) 王牌炒烏龙 Wang Pai Udon Noodles
The steam oyster and fried clams in special sauce, highly recommend!
So fresh, so yummy and cheap! Half dozen of steam oyster only NT100!!

Our family had a enjoyable night in Ningxia night market. We wish to come back another night for our four days trip in Taipei but our schedule reserved for others restaurant. Definitely will come back again!
