This is the highest mountain in Taipei city! You can see the whole Taipei city from the top of the mountain if the weather is good and no fog. There are three trails to climb up to the top, among those trails there are raw mountain trails with no stairs but trees and rocks. Over all, it's a great spot to visit while traveling to Taipei city!

Qixing Mountain is in Yangming Shan National Park. It is the tallest dormant volcano in the Taipei area. It's quite a hike to get to the top, but you will get a marvellous view out over Taipei City, and even the ocean.

This hike, on a clear day, will yield amazing views of the city and also views to the ocean. The views are consistent throughout and will distract you from the steep climb uphill.

Wear proper footwear, bring water. The main summit is nice but always crowded. Keep going to the east peak where the views are just as lovely, but it isn’t overrun.

I took the MRT to Jiantan station and took the city bus R5 to Yangshinming bus station. The bus was mostly filled with college students going to Chinese Culture University. It took about 45 minutes to get to the bus station. I started to follow the signs and head towards the Cising Mountain trail head. The trail head starts near the visitor center. The visitor center was under construction when I went.

I think from the bus station to the peak was about 2.5km one way. The trail is mostly stone steps the entire way, which is highly unusual because I'm used to rock and dirt trails. There was quite a few locals on the hike exercising. I think it took about 45 minutes to the top and it was moderately difficult, more difficult than Elephant mountain. At the peak you can see Taipei city, but the day I went it was overcast in the city but nice and clear in the mountains.

I headed back to the bus station and took the bus back into the city. It was a nice hike, didn't see many tourists on the hike. I guess hiking isn't popular or this isn't a popular hike like Elephant mountain. I would do it again if someone wanted to go.

It's good and convenient for people who love the nature to hike and relax. You can overlook the whole Taipei City from the peak, and the view is breathtaking. You also can see some wild animals, squirrels. birds. eagles, that you can't see in cities while you hike. If you wanna get a way for a while or a day but don't wanna go somewhere too far, Qixing Mountain is the best choice for sure.

It's great asset to Taipei residents. With 30 min driving, you are able to be in the mountain forrest to have fresh air. Lots of secret route in the forest which you can try each every different time. Great place!
